Hi I have been unable to sync my phone (Samsung Galaxy J6) to my charge 5 since 20/10/2024. It was working well prior to this date.
I have done all the steps in previous posts including:
Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Force quit the Fitbit app.
Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
Setup your Fitbit device.
If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app multiple times, but it will not pick up my Charge 5 watch any more, and keeps telling me to try again, which I have also done.
I have turned the Bluetooth off, turned the phone off and restarted the devise multiple times with out resolution.

It still doesn't work for me, I have tried everything suggested and I have 4.28.1 version of the app. The problem started 4 or 5 days ago when my Samsung phone did an Android update. After the update it refused to sync. I then unpaired my Charge 5 and although my phone can see the device it won't pair. Every time I try to pair my Charge 5 and add it as a new device, I get the 'something went wrong, an error occurred' message
Please get this sorted ASAP, Fitbit

Well, I must have uninstalled the app 15 times by now and still nothing. My Charge 5 is a brick sitting on the deck mocking me! I finally got fed up enough to order a Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 from Amazon for $50. It's missing some features that I never use anyway and still has all the SpO2, Sleep, Heartrate, etc. Seems like a good deal for 1/3 the price of a Charge 6. If they ever get this straightened out I'll have a good spare. Sorry Fitbit but apparently this isn't much of a priority or it would have been fixed by now or at the very least offer to let us revert back to the last app that worked.

Is there any way to get a refund or replacement fitbit charge 5? I've spent all day doing everything and now the thing won't even work as a watch now...

I think what upset me the most is this chat is moderated by fitbit support. Other than useless advice the company is silent. I understand that technology has glitches from time to time. Hopefully Google can fix this.

Still not working for me. I have tried everything, reinstalled app, restarting watch. My phone bluetooth can see charge 5 but the app does not find it to reinstall. So frustrated!!

Me too. Tried everything. Strangely this happened immediately after an app update!!

Well...I give up. Downloaded the new version of the app. Now this time, the app is finding my CHarge 5, but it now won't connect properly to it. I spent about an hour trying to get this to work, but it just isn't happening. Then I had a thought. I still have my old phone (A samsung A20) that still has an old version of the Android on it (version 11). So I tried and was successful in loading the app on this phone. I WAS successful in pairing my CHarge 5 to this phone and I was able to sync it up. So...for the time being, I'll just use this old phone to manage my fitbit. I'll keep trying to get my A13 to work. Hopefully sometime in the future, things will get fixed, but at least I have a workaround.

I'm also having this issue following an update on my A13.
I have wasted so much time, deleting the app, restoring the app, turning on and off Bluetooth and all of the other suggestions given.
Can Fitbit and Samsung not talk to each other to resolve this issue as it is clearly occurred directly following a Samsung update?
It has left so many users without the use of their Fitbit, and from what I have read in different forums, Fitbit will be losing a lot of custom.
Frustrated? Not half!!!!!

I tried this with my old phone but still get the error message when I try to pair the charge 5 to fitbit app, "an app is needed to use this device" so no luck there.

I have seen multiple (like a real lot) of threads about this. Seems there are various degrees of success. I have upgraded and Uninstalled/Reinstalled 4.28.1 (android) multiple times and still can't add my charge 5. The interface seems to change from the old screen to the new , sometimes it seems to find it, sometimes not, but always fails. Have tried all the phone restart, cache clear and factory reset of tracker ad-nausium. So I don't think this is fixed with 4.28.1. Today is Monday- am I alone?

By the way, I don't have an old phone to try. I shouldn't have to do this 😫!!!!!!
