This is exactly what happened with mine!!! I was so hopeful when it was downloading the clock face and then .... nothing
A pleasant surprise was that the warranty was two years and I'm still covered.
I'm curious if this will happen with the replacement as well.
I'm out. My screen went black yesterday and no matter what I do, it won't work. Thid is my 3rd one. I'm so sick of Fitbit and the changes to how you see data on the watch, too. I'm stepping up to a higher rated one! Toodle loo junk.
So, got my replacement as under warranty. Battery lasted about 6 hours, then it went black and I had to restart it. Clock face not working, and heart rate not measuring properly.
Well done guys, you've driven another client away and it won't be towards your new google overlords.
They are going to send a replacement as I have only had it 8 months. We will see. It seems like the replacement ones have issues, too.
After 3 days of fighting with my Charge 5, I wake up this morning with this on my screen
Went through the reset procedure (3x on the button, etc...) worked perfectly and I am now back among the living. I didn't do anything special other than just leaving it plugged in and charging overnight again.
This doesnt absolve my feelings about Fitbit however, I have a birthday and fathers day coming up... there may be an iWatch in my future.

Hi everyone, thanks a lot for all the participation and interactions.
I appreciate the effort you've put into trying the troubleshooting steps you have tried.
Based on your descriptions, it seems the best course of action might be to contact our Support Team directly. They have the most resources to diagnose the issue, and if your device is still under warranty, contacting them will ensure you're aware of all your options.
You can reach our Support Team through any of our official channels.
Oh interesting! Now I'm curious if mine will do that. Keep us posted if it stays fixed or if it goes black again.
Same issue here. My last sync of the device was at 2:15 pm on 5/20/24 but I didn't notice anything until later that night screen was black and non responsive. Tried the 3 button push on cable. Cleaned contacts on device and cable. Nothing. Just a dead Charge 5 that responds to nothing.
I wish I could thumbs down interactions and suggestions that are not helpful and take up valuable space on my page. Is Tech support going to offer assistance to those of us out of warranty? Provide a media update?
Mine is out of warranty as well. I was offered a discount to purchase another Fitbit product. I am reluctant to use it- people have reported having the same problem with their replacements! Fitbit needs to identify & resolve the root cause.
Mine was still in warranty. I got the replacement today. Just the actual watch so I had to use the band from my old one. Glad I didn't throw it away before the new one arrived. Software installed fine and then there was an update that I went ahead and did. It is now running good so far with software version 20001.188.58
I have the same problem with my charge 5, I am considering an Apple Watch! I do not want to trust a Fitbit for the 3rd time!!!
Same. Charge 5 started going black occasionally. Only restarts by plugging it in. Then started more often. Today I'm finally writing because it did it 5 times today. Symptoms:
When is fitbit going to send through a fix?
Same issue with mine. Starting on Tuesday the battery would drain in a matter of hours, rather than lasting all week. Since Thursday, screen is black, though the watch is charged, recording data and synching with my mobile. I went via online chat to tech support and explained that I had already tried the fixes suggested on the forums, including installing a new watch face. Polite operator promised to check whether my watch is still under warranty and email me. Still waiting.
This happened to me today!! My FitBit just bricked on a black screen for no reason after I finished repotting some plants. Checked to make sure it didn't get water or soil in it, it was fine except for some sweat. After trying everything to reset it, using a previous thread about this issue, it just vibrated a bunch and then got stuck on the logo screen. It's been that way for HOURS, unable to sync, won't respond to any methods I use, just the logo screen. Absolutely terrible, I haven't even had this one for a year yet and it's already broken on me. This is the second time a Fitbit couldn't make it a year for me, and I never bring it into the shower or get it too dirty... I'm just disgusted ATP.
