Charge 5 screen remains black

My Fitbit Charge 5 Screen remains black. I have attempted to restart it by all means suggested; holding charger button for 5 seconds; holding charger button for 15 seconds etc; I have tried different sockets; different plugs etc, all to no avail. The pebble is taking a charge and is buzzing, communicating with the software etc, just a completely black screen. Please suggest next steps, thanks

Oh wow, mine died same date too. I did the update after via the app and it shows that it updated, but screen will only show the dott diamond pattern for a second after I take it off the charger, then just goes black. I just thought it died and bought the new charge 6. Interested if it is firmware related and not just the death of my fitbit. It's 18 months old which is about as long as any of my fitbits have lasted though, so I just figured that was the lifespan.

I'm sorry to say you won't get it to work. This is part of Fitbit's planned obsolescence. Everybody's Charge 5 quit working right after their warranty expired because the Charge 6 launched in September. This obsolescence  also coincides with an update so that the problem can be blamed on that but ultimately they want you to buy the new device. Stupid me has gone through this three times. Every single time it was shortly after the warranty was up and the company denies there's isn't a problem even though there are so many of us on here are complaining about the same thing.  Like clockwork, my Charge 5 stopped working correctly a couple of days after the warranty expired.

@Charleyquant Is yours still under warranty?

Not after 18 months I imagine. I am sure the warranty is one year and I never pay up for the extension. . . . oh, ooops I miss-replied thinking @magnoliajem magnoliajem was replying to me . . . nevermind!

I don't think so. The warranty is 12 months right? I've had mine for 15
months.

Good luck. They won't tell me exactly why I don't qualify for warranty.
