Charge 5 stopped working altogether

So..... following the syncing/pairing issues we all have been dealing with, today, after performing all suggested solutions (which, I may add, have been a daily ritual for the last 2 weeks) my tracker is now not registering steps etc. 

Can Fitbit not just return to the version before the update that caused all these issues?
