Charge 5 tracking too many steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I carry three pedometers (don't ask, its more habit than anything else).  They are classic Omron, a Fitbit One, and a Fitbit Charge 5 (worn on and configured for my non-dominant wrist).

The steps that each record are different, which I would expect, but the Charge 5 is wildly different!  Right now, the readings are:

Omron:  1,159

One:  1,514

Charge 5:  3,002

My wife has a Charge 5 as well and we can spend the whole day together and her steps are half to two-thirds of mine.

While I like the higher numbers of the Charge 5  😉 I really just want accurate information.  Does anyone have an explanation as to what is going on here?

Thanks

Kevin

@KevinJK Welcome back to the Fitbit community!

Please check if MobileTrack is set up in the Fitbit app on your phone. To do so, just tap on your profile picture in the upper left corner of your Fitbit app. Then have a look for MobileTrack in the list of your devices.

If it's there, tap on the three dots menu button in the MobileTrack tile and remove it. Sync your Fitbit app to finish.

MobileTrack is not in my list of devices .... I have two (2) devices in that list:  a Charge 5 and a One.

@KevinJK Thanks for your feedback!

Please remove the Fitbit One from your Fitbit app and check if the results of tracking your steps will improve.

I don’t think this solves the issue with Charge 5 grossly over estimating steps. Mobile track sounds like it just uses your phone’s pedometer (which is not the point of having a Fitbit)… I’m super disappointed in my Charge 5, it over estimates by nearly 50% compared to my old Fitbit and iPhone.

And I have tried the non-dominant hand but setting the app to dominant. Nothing seems to help…
