Charge 5 won't track my heart rate data

Looking at various threads, this bug has been ongoing literally for years now: you accomplish your workout routine, go into the app to check on the map how your heart was doing on each portion of the route you ran or biked, and ....nothing appears! Heartrate has been recorded as it shows on the heart tile but somehow can't get mapped on your route..... so it seems Fitbit still can't get it right and the only workaround seems to be to start the workout from the device itself and not into the app. Okay.....if only it worked flawlessly at that point... maps that miss most of the workout now... not very helpful. I'm so disappointed with the lack of reliability of the product and its software, and with the support apparently all folks reporting the issue have received over the months. In my instance, I was told a few days ago that the issue was escalated, after spending a fair amount of time explaining on a chat what was the issue - as if the thread "not enough heart rate data" didn't ring a bell, really?? - and then nothing at all. Moving to samsung gears is my next step, as it seems fitbit won't provide much help? Or will they finally provide a fix and let me be satisfied with my purchase?

Hello @SunsetRunner and welcome to the community.  When you start your activity from the mobile app, you are using an old feature called MobileRun.  Notice that the only options are walk, run, and hike.  I used this feature with my One and Charge HR, two Fitbits that don't have an exercise app.  Fitbit moderators say that MobileRun is working as programmed and this is not a bug to be fixed.

Starting your run or bike from the device isn't the workaround.  It's the correct way to use your Charge 5.  The Charge 5 offers Dynamic GPS that lets you use your built in or phone's GPS.

Hello,

Moving my post to Inspire 3 section instead of Charge 5. Thanks for your contribution anyway.
