I've never seen the pink button to allow me to update.  I've followed all the directions I've seen, and restarted it a bunch of times.

Hi there, @NativeAZ. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is not updating to the latest firmware version. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

To better assist you, please confirm that you've tried all steps provided here Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

If the above has not worked; I'd recommend as our last resort, a factory reset. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

With the above being said, please sync your Charge 5 and then, proceed with the steps below in the order listed:

  1. Swipe down from the clock screen to find the Settings app.
  2. On your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > Device Info > Clear User Data

You can follow the steps to set up the device after that How do I set up my Fit-bit device?

Please allow a couple of days to see if your Charge 5 receives the notification for a new firmware update.

When you Clear User Data does that mean just the current date from today or since you have owned the phone and you will not be able to any longer see previous data on the app on cell phone?

Hello there, @Lyncam. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums.

Regarding your inquiry, when you perform a factory reset on your Fitbit device the current data you see on it is the one that will be lost. All previous data already synced to your Fitbit app will remain there.
