Do Charge 5 screens fail?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Charge 5 that works properly for collecting the data for steps, sleep, calories and heart rate. What it does not do is display anything on the screen. I have tried the recommendations for the three button pushes and the 15 second button push. The screen remains blank so I have no idea if there was a restart or a factory reset. I tried texting customer service, but this seemed to be a bot from 2015 which was incapable of deviating from the script.

Hi, @DAJensen welcome, I assume your Charge 5 is syncing as you can see collected data on your phone's Fitbit app. Is your Charge 5 carrying a good battery percentage? Have you successfully charged it? There are two possibilities (1) your Charge 5 needs charging - Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging? - Fitbit Help Center provides detailed advice & guidance. And (2) your Charge 5 is faulty. You do not mention how long you've had your charge 5, you may have the benefit of Fitbit's Returns & Warranty Policy depending on when, where & from whom you bought it. To contact "Customer Support" use the chat facility or phone for a prompt response.

I hope this helps, let us know how you get on by posting here again.

Cheers.

My battery is charging well.

I think I've had the 5 for about a year and a half. I tried customer support, but it got hung up on demanding that I clean the connectors, even though I told it that it was charging well.

I don't know exactly when it decided to go to black. It may have been when I tried to change what the clock face looked like, but I've seen recommendations to change the clock face to fix the problem, so that probably isn't the cause.

Hi, @DAJensen, If you have not already done so, try changing the clock face again via the Fitbit app on your phone.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

I'm in the same boat as you. Everything is syncing but my screen has gone black twice in two days! It's charging and otherwise doing well. I've had my Charge 5 that I bought locally online and had no issues until now. The Fitbit logo shows up but it goes black right away.

I try changing the clock face and the haptic tells me it is all done, but the screen stays black.

I couldn't get my Fitbit to correct itself to the correct new time.  Instructions said it would reset on its own. It didn't it was 3 minutes slow so I shut down the phone and restarted. Took a little time but now it has corrected time.

My experience with that is that forcing a synchronization from the app has corrected the time.
