I just did an hour long workout and found that the automatic exercise detection added two entries for the exact same time, same date, and all the same metrics. What’s going on? How do I fix this? Sidenote: I thought this charge five was supposed to be more accurate in detecting and tracking exercise. I just did a one hour CrossFit workout and it indicates I’ve only burned 85 cal. Very similar to what I used to get on my surge where I could do a 30 minute walk and burn more calories than an hour long CrossFit workout … Not sure how that math works!

Edit: old watch not the surge but rather the blaze.
still how can Fitbit claim better detection and accuracy when I burn so few calories during an hour long vigorous workout?

Hello @KarensBlaze
Is yours actually more of an interval workout? Auto detection works really well for my studio classes, so I’m guessing the kind of movements you’re doing aren’t as easy to track.
I have a suggestion. Why not set up an Exercise Shortcut for either Workout or Interval Workout and then press Start and Stop as appropriate. You can then use Categorize Exercise to change it to CrossFit later.
If you need help setting that up, please come back and ask.
As for the double entry, choose one and swipe to the left to delete it.
I hope that helps a bit.
Edited to add:
Calories are calculated on you reaching your heart rate zones based on your resting heart rate measured each night. The higher your heart rate during exercise, the higher the calorie burn.
In the summer when I was jogging outside I earned a lot more active minutes than weight training. Now the weather is much colder I’m not going as fast and the opposite is true. It’s quite surprising how things change depending on season etc.
