Fitbit 5 completely dead after first swim

It’s about 15 months old, but never been wet. First day of Christmas holiday we went swimming and Fitbit 5 died there and then. Dried in a bag of rice for over a week, and although it ‘buzzes’ when doing a restart, there is only a blank screen. What more can I do to revive it?

Mine has totally died as well - was fine, never had issues with it, I didn't even go swimming! Went to bed, when I woke up it wasn't responding so I thought the battery had died (though it would have been at about 50% so that was confusing to me). Connected to charger and nothing. Tried to restart via the button on the charger - nothing. Only had it for a year so not happy at all

I had same experience with my 11 months old device. I have used many times in swimming pool and no issue.  All of sudden 2 nights ago noticed device is working not good. Battery emptied so quick and couldn't charge.  It got hot during charge,  Back side red Led was constantly ON and after many hours chat with customer service,  they left me with no solution.  Thanks to advice of one user, I let device get dry inside dry rice for 72h. Aftet that time, I connected to charger and now seem working. It's super disappointing that it's been told my manufacturer the device is water proof but it's not. Or maybe over time it lost the feature.  Very big minus point as I bought this special for swim tracking.

If you see visibly humid on backside please don't do anything with device and just let stay 72h into bowl of dry rice.

I didn't even go swimming with mine at all, lights on the back are totally dead (neither green nor red), no humidity visible either - will probably end up getting another brand to help support my health goals now. Which sucks, but this is my second fitbit and I'm not wasting money on another.

That is probably a good idea if you can afford another to buy something else. For me, after I manage to fix the humidity issue,  I face new problem of battery die very quickly,  less tan 12h. My device should have still warranty but unfortunately customer service of fitbit not willing to help. It's a pity

As it is still under warranty I have been able to get a replacement after speaking with Fitbit. Many thanks for the help and the replacement 😊 🙏 👍
