Have you tried a restart yet?
The water lock only disables the touch screen. People where complaining that, while wet, the screen display keeps changing.

Hello @HoneyBeeDee
It could be that water lock is still on. I found that I need to tap the screen very firmly and a bit forceful to turn off water lock. I understand that is by design so that the Charge 5 screen doesn't react to movement while in the water. However, I was surprised how strongly I needed to tap the screen to turn off water lock.

Hi @HoneyBeeDee
That's so disappointing & frustrating. If this is helpful, here are troubleshooting steps for: Why isn't my Fitbit battery charging
Hopefully, once your Charge 5 has dried out, it will charge and be back to working properly.
