Fitbit screen is black / blinking

My fitbit screen won't display anything other than a gray screen with a red line at the bottom... when I put on the charger, it sometimes blinks like crazy but is not responding otherwise. It's relatively new.

Update: it seems like it's not charging, according to the app. But it had almost a full charge yesterday.
