How to stop add card notification?

Anyone has experienced how to stop the notification to add card in Charge 5?  I don’t intend to activate card in Charge 5 wallet, and it becomes annoying this notification prompts each time we sync the device.

I'm going to try this because it's been driving me insane having the notification constantly popping up and also running my battery down so quickly.

As other people in the forum have stated, this began for me yesterday after swimming. It seems multiple people have had it begin suddenly after being in water.

Also, when I tried to charge it, it didn't respond to the charger. I let it sit for 45 minutes charging and I restarted it, but it kept going with the notifications for about a half hour, then stopped. Unfortunately, it stopped because it had seemingly been drained of battery, which is very odd. It was at 67% battery, then died within a half hour? Something is seriously wrong with the device, and it's very frustrating because I've never had any issues with it at all in 2 years, until I went swimming with it. I thought it was water resistant and even has a swimming mode?

Guess not. What a shame.

The common theme is swimming. Your story’s the same as mine. The Charge 5 is supposed to be water resistant to 50m. I was swimming on the surface!
Thanks.

Yes - same here. All started on holiday when I went to pool bar and Fitbit was briefly under the surface albeit not for more than 30 seconds

The battery drains is half an hour now. Useless

i have gone back to the Charge 2. The 5 isn’t worth it

Hi Davide

That's not really good enough though. If they're aware but can't provide a fix in the near future why is that? How long have they been aware and why hasn't fitbit notified its customers of this issue if they know about it?

This is something that I finding super irritating and distracts me constantly and is making me consider going to a different brand because it should be something that they can do a fox on like remove the add card from the fitbit device itself for those who don't want to use it and have them add it as an app like you can with other things like ecg etc. There is always a workaround if they can't find a solution to the original issue

I took my charge 5 back to where I had bought it and they replaced it, I had hope to be able to get a credit note but the warranty was a like for like replacement. Worth giving it a go if you have a warranty I would not buy a fit bit again

Same issue here. Second one that this has happened to as well.   This time it happened after spending Sunday pressure washing, so it was wet for a good part of the day.  That seems to be the common thing I'm seeing in this thread. So, the device is not at all water resistant.  I've never worn mine in the pool nor in the shower.   I suspect Fitbit is choosing not to 'fix' this issue because it's a failure due to being exposed to water and they would have to replace all affected units.... but most are out of warranty.  If they sell an item claiming to be resistant to water though and it fails like this, they should be liable after the warranty expired.  In my opinion.... I will NEVER buy a Fitbit again.

I added my card in an attempt to turn off the constant notifications… and that didn’t stop them anyway

I experienced the same thing with my Fitbit with the sudden "add card to wallet" notifications, not being able to turn them off, and having my battery drain and the device becoming functionally useless. Mine also happened the day after a brief accidental exposure to water, less than 4 feet and for about 10 seconds. For a device that is advertised as water resistant up to 50m and claiming to be able to do swim workouts, this shouldn't be an issue. I contacted Fitbit support and got a similar email to the "best answer" in this thread... "Thanks for letting us know about this issue. We’re aware of it, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future. We'll continue to monitor the situation, and keep our team informed of the impact to you and other customers. We understand that this isn't the resolution you're hoping for, but rest assured we're always working to improve our products."

That is completely unsatisfactory. Luckily my device is less than a year old so I will attempt a warranty replacement, but this is the first and last Fitbit product I'll buy. Very disappointing.

UPDATE: I inquired with Fitbit about getting a replacement for my Charge 5 under warranty, as my device is only 8 months old and still within the warranty period, and was advised that it is ineligible for warranty since this is a "known issue." I don't even know what to say to that. I thought situations like this are what a warranty is for in the first place!

Yes on reflection my problems started after using for swimming!! I was
lucky I was under warranty. If that is the case they need to review their
advertising. It is not waterproof or resolve the issue at manufacture!! I
won’t be using mine for swimming

So it's been 8+ months and this issue is still happening?? Need a fix asap. My family members has been woken up multiple times in the night time because of it. It keeps happening after every couple touches on the charge 5. Might have to return it and get a different brand if this is how bad customer support is. Jeez

Same thing just happened to mycharge 5,after swimming.  Fitbit died and now can't get rid of add a card message and battery lasts maybe 8 hours. I've tried  all the different steps to remove bthe add card message with no change.  Since  this is a known issue for so long and no fix after many years of different  models of Fitbit I'm going to look for a different brand.

What brands have you guys found that worked for you?

Why do they not just say not waterproof. BUT it should be at the price !!

They sell it on the bases that it’s waterproof and you can set pool lengths
to track how much you have swam. I had 18 months of pool use before mine
went awol.

I wanted to let the group know that, after my Charge 5 refused to operate, the FitBit customer service agent suggested I clean the charging contacts with rubbing alcohol. I did that and the Charge came back to life! Since then the add card messages have stopped for the most part. The display is not as bright as before the problem and the battery lasts just over a day. But the watch is at least somewhat useable.

Hi there,

I'm almost ready to give up on Fitbit as these endless "Add a Card" notifications wake me up at night and drive me mad. I have hunted and tried everything to switch them off but they don't stop.  Surely there must be some resolution from Fitbit that we can follow to sort this out by now?
