How to stop add card notification?

Anyone has experienced how to stop the notification to add card in Charge 5?  I don’t intend to activate card in Charge 5 wallet, and it becomes annoying this notification prompts each time we sync the device.

Mine started doing this also, showing "To Add Card... " constantly.  I seemed to have fixed it by erasing user data and re-setting it up as a new Fitbit.  It has been almost a day and Add Card has not showed up once.   It has been working perfectly.

Erase Charge 5

If you want to give Charge 5 to another person or wish to return it, first clear your personal data:

  1. Swipe down from the clock screen to find the Settings app
  2. Open the Settings app  Device Info --> Clear User Data
  3. Swipe up, then press Hold 3 Sec for 3 seconds and release.
  4. When you see the Fitbit logo and Charge 5 vibrates, your data is erased.

------------

Never mind - it has started doing showing "Add Card" again. That did not fix it long term.

Unfortunately I tried that before, and it didn’t work for me also… it’s kind of sad Fitbit has so many bugs!

Well, I changed the face and restarted and the add card message stopped showing. I was happy until the face went black and It didn’t work at all. I tried everything, but could not get it working again. I got fed up and I now own the very inexpensive DoSmarter ZX18, which I like so far.

In the same boat!

Since update wanting to add card.  I now just have a black screen and a Fitbit that get real warm when I try to charge it.

Mine is doing the same. As a matter of fact, it’s the only thing that populates in my screen. It’s otherwise black. I’ve tried all I know to do to fix it without success. I hope this gets addressed soon by Fitbit. Or, this will be my last Fitbit purchase.

Have also been having this problem since updating to 57.20001.171.50.

Have restarted numerous times both from the device and the power cord.

You are very correct, deactivating the card in the app, does not help!

Hope there is a new update to fix this, since my battery now drains in less than 24 hours, instead of taking a week!

I keep getting this annoying reminder also.....sometimes 4 times a minute, other times after a few  hours.  Does not seem to matter if I am moving my arm, or sitting quietly.  Does not matter if I 'Got It' immediately or just let is hang on.  I've 'restarted' numerous times both from the device and the charging cord.  Began after updating to 57.20001.171.50, which coincidentally/causative is when my battery began draining in less than 24 hours instead of lasting a week!

Keep hopping for a solution

Watch has suddenly just decided to intermittently start prompting the “add card” screen for payments without me even going to it. Happens at least 10 times throughout the day. I’ve restarted it, and hasn’t fixed the issue.
Just weird. I don’t even use payments on my charge.

Anyone else have this glitch?

The same thing happened to me. Not only is it super frustrating to have this feature (which I don't want) and notifications (which are even more annoying), but since the recent update, my Charge 5 drains not only in less than 24 hours; it drains in about 6. It dies mid-day; it dies in the night, confusing and invalidating the sleep-tracking function (the primary reason I keep buying Fitbits); I spend tons of time during my day, when I am working/working out charging my Charge 5 instead of using it. I've had almost constant issues with my Charge 5 since I bought it, but Google's changes to Fitbit keep making everything worse--and I'm a devoted Android user with Google Fi and Google Fiber as my mobile and high-speed internet providers. Their "integration" attempts seem so much like what Microsoft has forced on Windows users, and all of it really frustrates me!

I tried this and it doesn't work.  Every morning when I synch my device I get the annoying notification to 'add card'.

Yes, nothing works.  I still do the same, manual action to the "add card", agree with you, so annoying.

My charge 5 started doing the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago. First the prompts, then the rapid battery drain, and then the screen stopped turning on despite the device being on. I updated the app, reset the device, and changed a bunch of settings support mentioned to no avail. Thankfully it was still under warranty, but it seems whatever caused the messages to start appearing was the end of my charge 5s relatively short life.

I recently upgraded from a Charge 2 to Charge 5, and it has been repeatedly producing vibrating notifications to set up the wallet (no, I am not tapping on the wallet icon). Seemingly every other notification is a reminder to set up the wallet, which is a distracting waste of time, since I have no intention of using the wallet feature. I've read through several other threads for other Fitbit products detailing how to disable this reminder or remove the wallet app altogether, but none of them seem to apply to the Charge 5. Any tips on how to do this? If I am inadvertently triggering this reminder through some kind of shortcut I don't know about, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi, it's good to see you visiting the Community forums for the first time, @symphwind

Thanks for sharing all the details about the issue you're experiencing with the Charge 5 and the Set up Wallet notification.

Before considering other options, please try the steps listed here below and let me know if you continue to have the same problem afterwards:

Hope this helps, I'll be around.

I actually got this to stop by trying to add a card that isn’t supported by fitbit. The only card I have isn’t supported by them but I didn’t know until I tried. After I entered all my information and it said they couldn’t do that card it stopped trying to get me to add one. I hope this works for you too!

EDIT: The latest software update towards the end of 2022 completely stopped this issue for me. My first solution only worked for a few weeks but now it doesn’t happen at all anymore.

I have the same problem: keep getting a notification on my device to “add a card”. I did a factory reset, unpaired and re-paired the device but keep getting the same notification!
How do I disable payments?

@Tangelo Yeah, unfortunately at this point I'm starting to believe that this is was intentionally programmed behavior to compel us to use Fitbit Wallet. I basically get the notification once a day, the first time I manually sync the Fitbit Charge 5. If this is programmed in, then the company should be up-front about it rather than having us run around in circles resetting/re-pairing our devices.

I recently discovered an older thread where a few users tried a LOT of methods to make this stop: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-5/How-to-stop-add-card-notification/td-p/5221453 . They describe a way to disable the wallet, but this apparently doesn't actually make the notifications go away. The user was only able to make them stop by entering an account number that is incompatible with Fitbit wallet (by chance). I'm not sure I'm willing to test that out, since it still will supply Fitibit with private information that I don't want to link to my fitness/GPS data.

At this point, I'm considering going back to using my Charge 2, which worked fine (AND had an altimeter!) except for the silent alarm syncing.

I get the same notification EVERY time I open the Fitbit app (multiple times per day).  I have no idea how to make it stop (I’ve asked in a different post).

Out of curiosity, what device is your Fitbit app on? I'm wondering if this is specific to any particular device or operating system. I have an iPhone 13. This is not the only issue I'm having - there's also a known major bug that seems to only affect iOS devices (not Android) where none of the graphs (steps, calories, etc.) can display in 15 min increments like they used to. That has been going on for a few months and despite multiple app updates, it hasn't been fixed. So if this notification is also an iOS issue, maybe Fitbit is de-prioritizing making the app compatible with Apple devices due to competition with Android/Google.

I might try syncing with my wife's Android phone to see whether that still triggers the Wallet notifications.

Another thing I might experiment with is the Location setting. I currently have it set to only while using the app (I don't really like being tracked everywhere I go, but moreover it's a battery drain).

Update: The location setting doesn't matter.

Another discovery: the message seems to primarily show up when the Fitbit app is restarted. Merely syncing the app does not generally trigger the notification, as long as the app was already open.
