I just did a 6 km walk using the distance shown on google maps. I recorded the distance and steps on the charger 5 before I began. When I finished it was now showing I had walked over 7km and the number of steps was 8500
Both my wife and I have the same charger 5's (bought at the same time) and each time we go out walking (we both have the same stride) mine will always show greater numbers then my wife's.
Not very happy with these charge 5 units
Thinking about Garmin

Hello, @obrienw55 Welcome to the community!
Thanks for explaining this situation with the distance tracked using your Charge 5.
Your distance is estimated by your stride length. By default, stride length is calculated using your height and sex. If you feel that your distance estimate isn't accurate, you can adjust your stride length by following the instructions in How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
Also, there are certain things which can impact the distance, I recommend you to check this article, since the way on how you wear your Charge 5 also can affect this.
