Make Charge 5 Step Count Manually Adjustable

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 5 adds 12,000 to 15,000 steps when I first get out of bed. Either fix the software or make it manually adjustable so we can have a more accurate count. My Charge 4 never had this problem. Tell your progrmmers to fix the problem.

Hi, thank you for sharing that you've been having this inconvenience with the Charge 5, @SweetJanOK

Before considering other options, could you please provide a few extra details? Let me know if you're experiencing this problem constantly or if it happened only once (many steps being counted while you sleep). In the meantime, make sure to complete the restart using this method below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times, pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

I'll be around.

The problem of my Charge 5 adding thousands of steps in my sleep has
happened multiple times. This is the second one it has happened on. I
exchanged the first one when it happened so this is the second one to do
this. It is a problem with your app. I am a retired programmer so I
understand that but it need to be fixed. If I am going to spend that much
money on a tracker I want it to work! I still have a couple of weeks to
return it so if I don't get a good answer this one will go back too and I
will give it bad reviews.

I can't find a button on my charge cable to press. Please tell me where it
is so I can try to reset it that way.

Hello @SweetJanOK

The button is a bit hard to spot but is at the USB end of the cable.

Here’s a picture for you.  Hopefully you can spot it.

On mine, the way it plugged in means it’s facing down so you can’t spot it easily.

Good luck with everything!

PS I recently saw someone (I forget who, sorry) suggest choosing that ‘Exercise’ period in your app and changing it to Driving or some other non-step based activity.  I think that also allows you to edit or erase it too.

If I can find that post later, I’ll come back and add a link to it.

Found it!  @EdsonFitbit posted an extremely helpful link in their post that I followed to get the information!

After all that, I forgot to post the link!

Too many steps

Thank you. I was looking at the wrong end of the cable. You were a big help.
I'm working with support on Twitter to see if my problem can be fixed.
