today I have a "update available" notice. I pushed update and and got syncing message and then a message saying "can't sync". I've tried restarting. The update available msg is still there and it still won't sync,. I am using a Google Pixel 3a

@colleenscharge5 not sure if we had the same problem, but I also received the update available notice yesterday, although didn't try to download it, and also was unable to sync with the app. I have just chatted online with a fitbit customer service person who helped me resolve the syncing problem. I had to force quit the app, turn bluetooth off and on (though it was already off), then restart the app. Syncing worked again after that.
To force quit the Fitbit app on your phone, open the Settings app > Choose Apps > Choose the Fitbit app > Touch the Stop or Force Stop button.
