Charge 6 - Request for enhancement

I have the Charge 6 for over a year now, and I see room for improvement. I hope this note will find its way to the product managers or developers.

I have a wristwatch. A casio, that gets its time from GPS/Radio, and charges its battery by its dial which is also a solar cell. I don't have to futz with it ever, it just works. Always.

I have a charge 6. I wear it all the time. It forces itself to my attention often. I have set GPS to Dynamic, and when I go for a walk or ride my bicycle I have the app started on my iPhone. I am allowing the app to get the phone\s location, hoping it would feed the Charge 6 device.

When I select "walk" as activity it sometimes picks up my location. When I select "Bicycle" or when it determines automatically that I'm cycling, it prompts me to agree to share heartbeat info with my phone. But GPS info? Forget it

Apparently the user MUST interact with the tracker like a spoiled brat.

Navigating the menu is a generator for considerable annoyance. The display does not show any speed information, it displays zero km/hour whatever I set GPS to.

If it is considered desirable for the user to interact with the tracker I'd say that's the wrong choice. I want it to be like my wrist watch, just does what I expect from it by default.
So, dear product managers:

  1. Allow the user to manage all settings using the fitbit app on my phone
  2. Allow the user to permanently allow exchange of heart information with the phone's app
  3. Allow the user to setup a profile that limits interaction with the tracker to the absolute minimum
  4. Allow the user to start an activity using the phone app
  5. If GPS is enabled once, then activate it whenever a workout is started (I should not have to remember doing this !)
  6. At a moment of non-activity it prompts whether the activity is stopped. It defaults to YES. Make it default to NO, so I don't accidentally select yes trying to swipe to the NO choice.
  7. Don't force the user to interact with the tracker's menu when it is registered to a phone's fitbit app
  8. Don't think I would just love to spend time tinkering with the tracker
  9. Improve activation of the screen. Take into consideration that the user might be wearing a coat with sleeves covering the wrists. (We don't all live in Sunny California..)

Like I said, I hope this note makes it to product development.. Thanks for considering.

Greetings, Hoot.
