Charge 6 firmware update 214.14, why not having it yet...

I recently received a Charge 6, but although a firmware update was announced for it about two weeks ago, I've been unable to get the promised 'pink alert' in the app's Device area for it, to receive ithis

I tried the Google Support for the Charge 6, and got a good answer as to why.

  • Support was very responsive, and called back right away, with a very nice and helpful person
  • She looked into the situation, after verifying what I'd tried (everything possible...)
  • What she found is that: less than 1% of owners have received the update possibility alert( so far !!)
  • From what she discovered, the actual release should appear in a week or a little more

So, I'm satisfied that my new band and the app are fully working, which is what I personally wanted to know..

We should be aware that the app itself has just been updated in last few days, and the latest will be needed to receive the upgrade when it does arrive.

I was quite pleasantly surprised with how Google support works for this purchased item....and from what I learned, I suspect the firmware itself may have needed some tweaking, as it seems pointless to have announced it for many sites to pick up and repeat, when nearly no-one could receive it for a lenghy, unspecified time...

Even if there is nothing to tweak, it always takes quite a while, (several weeks at least) for firmware updates to roll out to everyone, supposedly to make sure it is going smoothly with no unexpected problems reported.  Also these have to go through the Google Play Store to got to the app, which can add another level of delay.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
