Charge 6 won't sync after latest app update

ANSWERED

I have been having major problems with my 5 month old Charge 6 - not logging distance, rubbish GPS tracking etc. I updated the app to rhe latest version last night, and now the app won't sync at all. It refuses to pair with my phone, and if I try to pair from the phone, rather than from the app, it won't work either. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling etc, and no joy. I am so fed up with this device, and I think this is the final straw.

Hello everyone!

Thank you all so much for updating us on this situation. Our team has been looking for a solution and has recently launched a new version of the Fitbit app. Some users have reported that with this new version of the app they're able to sync their devices again.

Please try to update your Fitbit app to the 4.28.3 version. If it doesn't work, please restart your phone and try the steps of set up as new device again:

  1. Update the Fitbit App to 4.28.3
  2. Open the Fitbit app. On the Today tab, tap on Devices (Device icon, top left).
  3. Delete any connected Fitbit Trackers/SmartWatches, if any are shown.
  4. Go to Android Settings, Bluetooth (Connected Settings), and "Forget" any Fitbit Trackers/SmartWatches if any are shown.
  5. Restart your phone.
  6. Open the Fitbit app and re-add the Tracker/SmartWatch (via the Devices icon, top left). How do I set up my Fitbit device?
  7. From the Fitbit app, Today tab, Tap or Hold near to the top of the screen and then drag down to perform a manual sync.

Is it the newest version with a 3 at the end of the software number? We
only got ours sorted out today after 11 days solid. These are the things
ive done in the past. Turn phone off and on. We have a samsung, so if its a
diffrent phone you may want to check the web/ manufacturers. Uninstall the
app off phone. Re install app. Restart the fitbit from the fitbit itself.
Restart fitbut by pushing button on charging cable, small circle. Turn off
blue tooth. Turn on blue tooth and re pair. Change clock face to something
else, let it load and then put back the clock face you normally have. If
someone else has a fitbit in your house try and pair yours on their phone
and see if that works. These are the things ive done. You could try and
call the fitbit team if you cant find anything else on the forums. Check
with them if its the actual fitbit as it might be under the warrenty and
the equipment itself, or is it actually the software on the phone. If i
can think of anything else i will post it for you. Do hope you get it
sorted, as i do understand its so frustrating. Keep checking for new
downloads, they know this is going to take a while thats why they are
releasing these in batches. Hope some of the suggestions help. Take care

Thanks to everyone who have tried to alert Fitbit re the failed update
(4.28) and the failed 'fix' (4.28.2).
👍Moderator Fatima, your advice re using patch update (4.28.3) has solved
the synching issues we all experienced from Oct 22nd.
This morning I got my Samsung 11 to accept app version 4.28.3, and I've
finally been able to reload and sync my Charge 4 tracker. Since then it
appears to be updating the app with current HR & step data.🤞

?? Has anyone been able to sync the data, missing since Oct 22nd, or is it
gone forever??

My Charge 4 was showing and presumably recording 'on wrist' data, (HR/steps
etc.) over that time.
Once synced, I hoped it would download the missing info to the app. as
usual; and all the sleep and health analysis would be updated.
Despite multiple re-syncs the info is still missing.

thanks I'm sorted now. Reloaded and rebooted everything in site and gave Fitbit app permissions to access everything it wanted ( seemed like the whole phone).

Hoping it continues to work!

Had this blaze for 6 years though only now getting it out of its box 🤭

Have you ensured that you've given the app permissions to access everything it wants?

Hi all. From my side we lost 11 days of data, so doesnt look like they
managed to store it. As an aside my phone didnt have the issues but i
waited till my fiance's phone was corrected before i did the download on my
own phone. I did notice this morning the wellness 3 minute thing didnt
since. I did that and the ecg twice. Again didnt sinc so turned off the
phone and it worked. So keep an eye on all the data you do each day and
restart if necessary. As an aside my floor i.e flights of stairs area has
never worked. So dont know if others in the community has the same issue.
Hope the info helps

Hi Klix01

The "Floors" counter on my Charge 6 has never worked and the health metrics data is inconsistent.

I've never recovered the 9 days missing data so I expect that's gone for good. My wife's Inspire 3 found all her missing data for some reason.

One other thing, the Fitbit app is now syncing slowly and inconsistently with my health insurers app so points gained for steps are not always transferred across. Worth checking if you have such an app.

The data appears to be lost forever.  The remaining data that is being transferred from tracker to phone appears to be corrupted.  Example: my 12,000 plus steps from Saturday are showing up as 10,000 steps on my phone.  I am hoping things settle out in a couple of days.

@Rhosddu1 The Charge 6 cannot count floors. That is why you counter does not work.

Hi DracoPrime. Did you manage to download the new version and get things
syncing on Sat? Perhaps the 2000 steps done, *before* you got the app
working, was lost that day. If so your tracker would say 12000, but the app
has only recognised the 10000 steps since it started syncing. Mine only
showed fresh data after I got everything working. Just a thought.
Congratulations for the 12,000 steps by the way!! 😊

Hello all,

Thank you for your updates and letting us know that you're able to sync again with the Fitbit app.

Like everyone else, I sure hope that we don't see another widespread syncing issue like this again.

Didn’t work. Been trying for over a week since my new (less than 5 months) charge 6 screen went black and then today stopped syncing. Am utterly fed up—Google has ruined this useful tool and the product (like the advice) sucks. Been a fitbit user since 2014 or so and became very attached to the sleep and heart rate tracking. But apparently it’s time to quit this grab for millions of individuals’ data and its launch of a newly sucky product. Congrats

Hello. If you have followed all the things to check including the reset
little button on the charger cable i'd get them to ring you back from the
USA. Get them to check it as they can advise what the situation is with
your particular one as it might have died completely. We have had a couple
of downloads this week and it changed the heart area but its working ok
now. The readiness score hasnt worked twice this week so it looks like they
are changing stuff again in the background. It took us 11 days for ours to
work again if thats any help. Unfortunately until they fix you cant do
much. Check it once a day after you have spoken to them as you may need a
replacement, only they will be able to tell you that. Hope the information
helps. All the best.

I am running version 4.34.1 and my Charge 6 will sync to the Fitbit App but it keeps losing sync.  I have to force the app to close and restart to get the sync working again.  I am told the issue is I don't have the latest Android version but it's not available for my phone yet.
