Google Wallet unable to set up

ANSWERED

Hello, I would really like to use the google pay feature on my Fitbit charge 6. However, whenever I am trying to set up a the card, when it sayings contacting/connecting to bank, it then says An unexpected error has occurred, please try again later. Then when I leave the google wallet tile on the Fitbit app on my iPhone, and re-enter the google wallet tile, the card appears. However when I check my charge 6, the card is not on the Watch. Has anyone else experienced this? And any fixes? I am on the latest update on the tracker, and I have tried multiple times to connect the card. (I am using CIBC btw)

I figured it out. Google Wallet on Fitbit and the phone are different. So even though you can add your card to your phone, the card may not be available on your Fitbit. This isn't very pleasant and I would urge fitbit to do better.

I have a similar issue. I am able to add my card to Google wallet and Google Pay, but unable to link it to Fitbit itself.

So both Fitbit and my bank and confirmed that they work with FitBit. So it's something on Fitbits end with  Google Wallet as it's broken. It's infuriating that I have to go out of my way to figure this out. Fitbit team, stop lying to consumers and fix this issue. My bank can't fix an issue that is broken on your end.

Best Answer

You may need to check the list of available banks that are allowed by Fitbit for each country. In sine countries such as UK, the list is very short. It's on Fitbit web site and accessible through help

I'm having the same issue. Checked the list of banks and mine is apparently compatible so can't figure out why it's still not working

Same issue here. Just bought the Sense 2. Card works on my phone, my old fitbit, but can't add it to this one. No fix then I'm returning it. This is pretty ridiculous that it works in the phone Google wallet but not the fitbit.

I checked . When I bought the device, my bank was on the list. After filing a complaint with the bank, he suddenly disappeared from the list. It was Millenium Poland bank.

I had a lengthy chat to a google Fitbit tech in Colombia :colombia: they couldn’t help.. just said go to the forum ??( to bypass my COMPLAINT ) that the google wallet keeps showing “error “ and I CANNOT return the device now it. I feel lied to also and they just swerved the issue it’s A terrible service and kinda regret buying it

Similar case.

Google pay is normal in my mobile phone. I set up google wallet for my Versa 2 through the app. After inputting the security code, the app displays "contacting your bank ..." and then "Something went wrong, Please try again later".

Would Fitbit/Google please follow the issue and solve the problem asap.

I am in the same boat. I have my card in the wallet on my phone. The bank even verified it, but when I try to link it to my Versa Watch 2, it won't link. It's a new debit card from the same bank to replace my old one, and still, it wants me to verify. Go figure.

These steps worked for me,  might work for anyone that had Fitbit pay but want to migrate to google pay/wallet and also work for first time setup of google pay/wallet.  I have not used an android phone for many years but I had a spare android phone left behind by a family member. My phone is an iPhone:

Step 1.  Sync Fitbit to iPhone to save data

Step 2. Log out of Fitbit app in iPhone

Step 3. Find a android phone with android version 9 or higher that supports google pay/wallet

Step 4. Install google wallet android app

Step 5. Install your bank mobile app, e.g. for me it was capital one mobile

Step 6. Login bank mobile app and don’t change any settings accepting defaults. Make sure save remember login and don’t log out.

Step 7.Follow the steps to google wallet/google pay app and make sure no problems according to google.

Step 8. Banking mobile app will get alert that google pay/wallet wants to add credit card to google wallet. Go to banking mobile app click accept/allow. If you call capital one customer service they will tell you google wallet/google pay do everything automatically and all computerized without human interaction. The alert/Permission that requires saying yes is in your banking mobile app.Google will send email that google pay is ready after everything is done successfully.

Step 9. I converted Fitbit to google account since my google wallet/pay uses gmail anyway. I do not know if Fitbit google wallet pay will work using Fitbit account only.

Step 10. Log in Fitbit android mobile app, sync Fitbit then go to add google wallet in Fitbit app, enter credit card details then choose accept, since banking mobile app is running in the back ground and google wallet is also running in the background, you will see a fast display for a second of google wallet/google pay. If it stops and ask permission to accept then chose accept and you will see google wallet successfull and confirmed in Fitbit app.

Step 11. Make sure your Fitbit google wallet is working fine, sync to Fitbit, check Fitbit device on your wrist to confirm google wallet/pay is working and then log out of android Fitbit app.

Step 12. Log back in Fitbit app on  iPhone with same login used on the android Fitbit app.

Step 13. Confirm Fitbit google wallet/Pay tab has no problems and should be the same as the android version. Make sure to sync And 🙂

I believe iOS blocks google wallet/Google pay connection and that is why setting up google wallet with iPhone Fitbit app isn’t possible or have issues. Mobile banking app in iOS never receives the security alert from Fitbit app when setting up google wallet/Pay

Their solution is get an android phone to use google wallet?? um NO.

As someone with an android phone that's not even a solution since I'm having the same issue

Google Wallet also fails to sync on my ihpone. I just got a message stating I had to migrate to google Wallet as fitbit pay stopped working. Now I can no longer use contactless payments on my Sense and I refuse to buy an Android phone. This really sucks as I started to depend on contactless payments on my Sense, need to look for an alternative watch that supports contactless payments without having an Android phone.

Best Answer

It doesn't matter anyway. I have both am iPhone and an Android.

Ever since FitBit made it so the payments went through Google Wallet on my Charge 5 watch instead of the previous method, my watch now refuses to add my bank's card detail to it. I've tried it on both the iPhone and Android, just says rejected, and to contact the bank - which are 100% of no help.

Things were working - and now they're not working. Very disappointing.

I have been having the same issues with this but one day, it finally
happened so now my wallet connects to my Fitbit watch. Must have been a fix
on Fitbit’s end as I did nothing else. Good luck, maybe an update on your
device.
Best Answer

I contacted fitbit, and they said fitbit app 4.16 will let you connect. Told me I had to wait for the update. I'm on fitbit 4.16. Just updated to it and don't know when the next will be available.

That doesn't work either.
