SpO2 no longer on my Charge 6

ANSWERED

Today SpO2 is no longer available on my Charge 6. When I go to check it says you need an app, but then says it is not available. It worked fine since September, so has this function been eliminated in a recent update?

Thanks for your reply. The AFib and ECG were the main reasons I purchased the Charge 6.  I was hesitant, because Google bought Fitbit, and they have a bad habit of developing or buying, and then dropping products or losing interest in them and moving on to something else. My Xiaomi watch works flawlessly, but it doesn't have the features I want. Oh well.

Mine works intermittently. It is now the end of September and I still have an issue . Was the “fix” completed? If so it did not fox any bug

I have found that charging to 100% every night and under settings scroll
down to select device restart. So far I have data each day as long as my
sleep had no interruptions for 5hours.

That means the product is not working as advertised. You shouldn't have to do that in order for the product to work correctly. It is defective if it does not work as instructions say, and instructions do not say or imply that it needs to be charged to 100% to work correctly.

My Charge 6 is brand new, the SpO2 function started working but stopped without notice. Very disappointing since I bought it primarily for heart rate and O2 data.

Same problem but still not working. Please come back asap.

I just restarted it but it didn’t help

Hi, Chicobala,  I continue to have this issue episodically.  Someone else in the community shared that the issue probably is not the device or software but just its functional limitations.  It may be that it was too high or too low on my arm that night, or was caught in some way that it could not make the reading.  It is frustrating, but I have accepted it as a fact of life with the device.  So far this week, I had no SpO2 reading on Tuesday, last week no data on Sunday, Monday, or Saturday.  The week of Thanksgiving, it was no SpO2 data on Friday. But the other days it worked fine.  See what happens over the next few days, and try adjusting how you are wearing it.

I have found it to have nothing to do with placement on arm, tightness of band, cleanliness of watch, or any other thing similar to that. Question  Chicobala and dinitajames, Do you have Health Connect working with the Fitbit app, or any other health apps that work with it? You can check under "Connected to Fitbit".

I suspect that it is not working because I’m in Brazil now and Brazil is not on the list of the countries where it works.
I don’t understand why but this seems to be the reason.

Here is how I took care of SPO2 on my Charge6: first is spo2 showing on
your watch with no reading? is spo2 showing on the fitbit app?. If on your
watch with no reading, go to the fitbit app on phone, click on battery icon
on top left of screen (this action takes you to the devices connected to
fitbit)click on charge6 click on Apps (1/2 way down screen) click on sp02.
click on -uninstall, then reclick it (install). then click left arrow back
until you get to fitbit home page, do a sync and then shut down phone. it
will restart in a minute or so.
now go to watch:from home screen scroll up to settings a listing of
settings appear. scroll all the way down to the bottom of list to Restart
Device 2 buttons appear, blue Restart button and beneath that one is a red
cancel button. Choose the restart blue button screen will go black for
about 5-10 seconds then the fitbit icon will appear. the restart is
complete. on main screen, scroll down till you see spo2, is the reading
there? if not, it will be there tomorrow.
FYI. on the spo2 feature on phone app, it you see -uninstall that means the
feature is installed. clicking it changes the words to install means it is
not installed and you need to reclick so it reads-uninstall. it is like
chicking bluetooth, it does no harm to uninstall and re install to get it
working again... I try to make sure my phone is charged to as close to full
charge each night.
hope this helps you, as my watch and phone are working fine now. I must say
that I am a little hesitant to allow downloads from fitbit on my app
because that's how all the problems started originally...

Did you adjust your sleep schedule to reflect Brazil time

Hello @Chicobala

You are correct. The Fitbit app uses automatic location by default. When the app detects that you are in a country where a feature isn't supported, you will not get results.

Some users will use a VPN set to their home country when they travel so that they will continue to get their data. However, using a VPN can have the side effect where your sleep and activity times might not be in local time.

Thank you. What I don’t understand is why Fitbit doesn’t permit the SpO2 function to work in some countries. It doesn’t make sense to me. I live in Brazil most of the time and would like to have this information.

This was amazing- it worked! And thank you for the meticulous guidance, step by step.

Fitbit/Google should hire you to provide customer support. Absolutely the best, effective response  - much appreciated!

I am glad it worked for you!!!

Hello @Chicobala

Certain Fitbit features, like SpO2, require approval from the country's health authority since it is under the category of a medical device feature.

When your device detects that it is no longer in a region where a medical feature is approved, it won't report the data for that feature. The app is "dumb" in that way. It doesn't know that you are only visiting the region.

That's why some users will use a VPN set to their home country in order to get all the features that they normally have at home.
