Add Lloyds bank to UK Fitbit pay

More bank compatibility for uk Fitbit pay versa users. So far Fitbit pay is not connected to any major banks in the UK. The very few that fit bit pay is connected to I’ve never even heard of. So as a UK versa owner I have the special edition and can’t use the very feature that separates it from the the normal versa.

is Fitbit pay going to compatible with the major banks in the UK like Barclays, Lloyds, Santander, HSBC, NatWest, TSB, Metro Bank, Halifax, Royal Bank of Scotland etc and also I haven’t seen any where (shops) that accepts Fitbit pay yet.

FitBit Support suggested I vote here.

Even though people have been voting here since 2017 with not much result - I vote for HSBC / First Direct and Monzo.

I think you need to vote but also contact your bank and ask that they add it. If enough people contact the banks they can instigate getting it done. Fitbit told me it was basically a banking issue and not their issue. I contacted HBOS and they sent a request on my behalf that deals with requests. They confirmed that the bank have no current desire to set up Fitbit pay but may if enough people requested it.

Recently new to Fitbit with a Charge 4 - all of the community suggestions asking for more big banks in the U.K. to be added to the Fitbit  pay feature are years old......you don’t seem to have made any progress with it? Why not? Will you be?  You should really make it clear on your adverts that the Fitbit pay feature is useless in the U.K. because you have only signed up Banks no one has heard of......

Hi @Fit83, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add Lloyds bank to UK Fitbit Pay. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about it here. Keep adding these suggestions.

Here's a novel idea, why not replace Fitbit Pay (which clearly has very poor mainstream bank support in the UK as evidenced by all these 19 pages of comments) with Google Pay. If Fitbit don't want to do that, let's hear their reason, otherwise lets hear a clear statement of intent from them about how they'd love to replace Fitbit Pay with Google Pay and what associated action they'll take (not just an 'under consideration' statement which isnt at all helpful to potential buyers).

Here, here.
I have actually submitted the same question in the past, and had no response!

Please add Barclays bank to UK Fitbit pay. Barclays is one of the major banks in the UK and it is not supported.

Hi @SunsetRunner, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to add Barclays Bank to Fitbit Pay. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about it here. I hope to see you around.

I live in Scotland and I'm looking to buy a smartwatch with fitness tracker and NFC payment capabilities that has widespread support by banks all around the world (and not just in the country where the manufacturer was founded). I'd also prefer an operating system made by Google. It makes no sense in trying to reinvent the wheel by devoting time and resources into expanding Fitbit Pay bank uptake when Google Pay already has a huge following with far more banks accepting it in more countries.

With the sale of Fitbit to Google expected to be done and dusted sometime this year (it's worth searching this online as it makes interesting reading), I'm holding off buying any Fitbit products in anticipation of a Google Fitbit device which incorporates Google Pay and the WearOS. There are already some such devices out there but as the owner of a Google Pixel phone, I'd prefer a Google branded (or perhaps Google Fitbit as it may eventually be termed) watch to go with it. I hasten to add that if such a product doesnt become available this year (perhaps in time for xmas) then the competing products (some of which even include 4G cellular capability) will likely tempt me to spend. Could the reason why Fitbit is holding off on expanding Fitbit Pay support be associated with its sale to Google and knowing that Google Pay and the WearOS will take over, I think so and I have seen nothing from Fitbit to suggest otherwise.

Add major UK Banks to Fitbit Pay:

No matter how many comments people make, Fitbit have continued to show their disdain to customers on this subject.  Fitbit are quite happy to use fitbit pay as an advertising tool but not make concerted efforts to get the UK major Banks on board.

Over the last couple of year's I have contacted fitbit on many occasions and through all forms of social media and its the same response:  we are working hard! Comment on forum s we take and act on these! Contact your bank as its their problem amongst many other excuses. I even suggested as Google have taken a stake in fitbit that they replace fitbit pay with Google pay that actually works in UK but that fell on deaf ears as well

Fitbit are happy to sell you their product but in respect of fitbit pay promise they are sadly lacking and for anyone hoping to ever use fitbit pay through  a major uk bank, forget it

Yes totally agree they have fooled up and should give us our money back for not saying it won't work in the uk

While Fitbit's almost total lack of support for UK banks is a pain, there does seem to be a usable work around.

I recently set up and installed the Revolut app and set up the account. You can add the Debit Card that comes with the account to your Fitbit Pay Wallet. You don't even need a physical card, the virtual card that comes with the account can be added, though I could not add it immediately. Of course you then have to make sure your Revolut account is topped up, but you can link the account to your existing bank account and  Googel/Apple Pay.

I have to admit I have not actually paid for anything with it yet.

I see posts about this go back for years and yet Fitbit are still marketing Fitbit pay as a feature in the UK despite the fact that no major banks as of date (Apart from Santander) are supported.  It's very disappointing and unfair for customers like me that purchased with the expectation of being able to use this feature.

Shame on Fitbit for this!

Yes Rob they clearly don't see this as a priority. I think as money talks, the only way to get through is to not buy until such time as they do listen and release a product that UK customers do want without having to jump through workaround hoops. If you've only just received it and realised this deficiency, see what you can do about returning it for a refund - maybe from your credit card provider if it comes down to that. So glad they havent got a penny from me. Good luck!

I took mine back when I found this out. Used the refund to help pay for an Apple Watch.

There are other fitness tracker type smartwatches already out there with plenty of UK main banks being supported in the NFC (contactless) payment app. Personally I'm waiting for one that has unlocked 4G connectivity so you can make and receive phonecalls with it, that uses Google Pay and that has at least 5 GB of spare storage space so I can put the local Google map on it and store all my MP3s for playback when I'm out on long walks. That way I dont even have to take a phone with me.

Please add Natwest bank to UK Fitbit pay. Natwest is one of the major banks in the UK and it is not supported!

You have about a much chance of this happening as we do of iradicating Covid-19.
Many have tried, all have failed!!!!
Adding major UK banks to fitbit pay will not happen.  I myself have contacted Fitbit many times over the last few years including in the past couple of weeks through all avenues and get the same negative responses from them.

The ironic thing is Covid-19 should make this one of their top priorities!  I am having problems with my Blaze at the moment and potentially will be looking to replace soon, however given the almost inevitable move to contactless payments everywhere the only smartwatch/tracker i will consider is one that has contactless payment capability, and i mean with reputable banks, not the disgraceful list they currently are partnered with!

I am sure it will be the same with others looking to replace current devices or those looking to get a tracker/smart watch for the first time, contactless payments now has to be right up there with key features!

We might as well just wait for the Google takeover and they will do what Fitbit obviously are not capable of doing and add Google pay.

Remembering that we need to put blame firmly where it is - with Fitbit and not Google. I'd hate for Fitbit to get anymore money out of Google for the sale as a result of such delaying strategies. I hope Google only goes for it if/when they think the price is right.
