Indicate exact restless/awake times during sleep tracking

Is there anyway to indicate the exact times the fitbit is recording us as being "awake" or "restless" throughout the night? I know there are bars on a graph to show, but it doesnt indicate the actual time I am waking up or being restless. It would really help me better see my sleeping patterns throughout the night.

The Benchmark Graph in comparison to 30 Day Average and Benchmark should be in absolute Time, not percent. It is confusing that a 10 Hours sleep with 10% in Deep is Benchmarked the same as a 5 Hours sleep with 10% in Deep. Not the relative time in Deep, Light and REM is important, but the absolute.

I have used the extract file for my sleep records and wanted to take it to my doctor to be able to discuss my historic issues but the file does not include to vital pieces of information namely no of time restless and the minutes related. Surely this is an easy task for someone to add two existing fields. Can the developers please arrange the same. I did write to help desk and they suggested I put my request here. Please can you expedite and let me know at least any progress please?

Really hope they change their minds because the sleep feature is useless to me without being able to tell what times I am awakened. Because of this, I have no plans to buy another fitbit product when mine breaks.

  1. I think the "light sleep" in the new sleep stages should be re labelled as restless and not be recorded as time asleep. It should be counted in the awake times. This would make the results more accurate (as they used to be)

Good afternoon,

After asking a question directed at Fitbit I was directed by them to put the suggestion on here.

The sleep part of the app would benefit from having a time line along the bottom to enable me to see if there is something that could be waking me at a certain time every night and then I might be able to locate this to see why I have broken sleep throughout the night.

Just got an update on this post for more watch faces and the poster commented 'why all this hate?!'   I think constructive criticism should be appreciated and encouraged by the marketing department.  These watches are a chunk of change to many.

Has there been any improvement to the sleep tracking of the Alta software to show more detailed timeline (e.g. hour markings) on the nightly sleep log?

Mine no longer tracks my sleep period. I suppose there must be an upgrade somewhere to fix it but I have no idea how to.

Hi @Nikki1091 and commenters. This is already possible! You need to click on the sleep pattern in the app, then click on it again and you'll see a timestamp pop up with the stage (eg asleep) and time range. You might be able to get this from holding down on the graph as well, depending on your phone. I have fed back to our engineering team that this could be made more intuitive. Thanks

Why have you sent this email to me?

As far as I can determine, the sleep pattern portion seems to work both the computer app for the Mac as well as the app for the IPhone. It has been working for some time. The only problem I see now is that when you open the Mac computer app, an error notice comes up and asks if you want to send a report or not. The app works fine once you clear the error message.

It works! You’re right, it is not intuitive.

Thank you

Hi

Although this does work the figures reported are inaccurate. Under the old sleep graph it was. Under the old graph, the restless was counted in the awake time. Under the new system the restless is now counted as light sleep and is counted as you’re asleep, when you’re not. Is there a way to choose which graph you want as the old graph was more accurate for me.

Thanks for the info, sadly I don't want to track it on my phone but rather on my desk top p.c. Yes I know it's out dated and old fashioned but I LIKE it!
Yes, same for me. I don't do internet on my phone, and use my computer at home for my fitbit.

Hi @CincyNicky, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Existing Feature". You can learn more about here: What should I know about sleep stages? Keep adding your suggestions!
