Able to create a custom meal and indicate number of servings

I would really like to be able to build a recipie and then indicate how many servings it makes and how much I ate and see nutritional break down by servings too.  I think it would way easier than trying to enter all ingredients then when its time to eat the leftovers I can just add the recipie serving.

I would like to see the option of saving a daily meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) as a custom meal.  This could be accomplished by creating a button near the meal header in the daily food log that would move the ingredients and amounts to your custom meals.

I too would like this feature, I build a recipe and still have to calculate how many calories I just ate, I am hating this feature very much, but have read on here that the fitnesspal sync ups I guess I'll use that feature.

I make enough soup to last for 4 or 5 meals.  It would be MUCH easier if the Menu option had a # of servings. That way, I can enter that I at 1 serving without having to reenter all the numbers.  Every other program I've used has this option.

I would very much like this feature as well. I batch cook...and need to be able to add all the ingredients...then create the serving size.  You should be able to enter the portions...then indicate in your food intake how many portions you eat of that.

Given that just about every recipie you will find anywhere is provided as an ingredient list of amounts for a specified number of portions this feature seems obviously necessary.

As another commenter poitned out, it becomes increasingly less practical to use this tool if you have to convert every recipie into a 1 person serve.

I'd like to make a suggestion for the food part of the app. I think it would be Amazing to have an option where you could put all of the ingredients down from a meal you cook, and that way when you're eating some of it, you don't have to click all of the ingredients individually every single time, and you could estimate your caloric intake a lot easier. It would be easier because you're not just randomly guessing about how much of each ingredient you ate, but it would take all ingredients into proportion when you clicked the meal. Please please please make this happen!! I'd be so much more willing to use that part of the app!

I use MyFitnessPal for calorie tracking as it does let you add recipies, but unfortunately it does not allow you to share recipies. i would really like to have just one app for everything.

I am surprised that there is nothing at Fitbit about creating your own recipie - eating well is so important and cooking for yourself is the best way to know what is going into your body. I would be more interestind in what others are eating than in competing on steps taken. 🙂

Adding recipies and sharing especially would be an extremely helpful feature for those of us that have more than one person in the household that is eating wel.

I make gorp.  That way I can control for walnuts (which I'm allergic to), and the amount of salt and sulphates. So, when I add 1 pound of almonds, 1 pound of mixed nuts and 1/4 pound of raisins, dried cranberries...  you get the picture.  I do NOT want to have to re-portion the 16 items in the gorp for a 1/4 cup serving!!!

I used to do this in an app I used on my Droid2.  To do this in FitBit, I will have to create it either in another app or a spreadsheet, and then calculate the serving details.

This should be automatic.

Yes, you can add a recipe.  BUT YOU CANNOT ADD PORTION SIZE.  Thus, if you use it, it enters the ENTIRE recipe in your calories.  So, if you bake a cake from scratch, there is no way to tell FitBit you ate 1 slice.  This is EXTREMELY frustrating - I cook a lot of meals with multiple contens, and you have to re-portion each and every one every time you eat it!!!!  So, if I make soup to eat for 4 days, I have to change all 15 components, EVERY DAY I eat it.

Please vote for this in all of the "new" suggestion posts = there are about 5 of them on this subject alone.

So, I tried a work around.  I entered my gorp all one one day, with the thought I could copy the nutritional information into a custom food with a portion size.  NOT  The dashboard/tracker DOES NOT GIVE YOU ALL OF THE INFORMAITON.

So, this does not work.

Now I have to search and see if I can get all of the informaiton out of the food logging somehow.  The summary is incomplete.

Yes please.

Recipe, total yield, portion size and sharing with friends and family.

Is this something which we will see in 2016?

There are so many awesome intuitive attributes to Fitbit. Not having the ability to enter recipe ingredients goes against how intuitive the App feels in general. I spent quite a bit of time looking for where to enter ingredients in the App because I was certain, based on other intuitive features, that it would be possible. I don't think it would be a complicated additional feature. Please please please elevate it to a priority for those of us also trying to get away from buying pre-packaged and highly processed foods! Totally consistent with what Fitbit is trying to help people achieve.

Fitbit is extremely cumbersome and user unfriendly when trying to log serving size for a home made recipe. Have any of the mods tried to log one serving of homemade chili? 🙂 It's near impossible and totally time consuming.

It would be awesome if you could add a feature so you can log all the ingredients in a recipe, so would have all the nutritional information, figure portion size, name it, and save it to your favorites. This would allow you to take a favorite family recipe, possibly make it healthier and save it. Total boon would be an option to publicly share your recipe with other Fitbit members, should you chose to do so.

I do appreciate your extensive database and a recipe converter would really compliment this. Thanks for your consideration.

I've used WeightWatchers and LoseIt for years before starting the FitBit app (I just got the Charge HR for Christmas), and both have Recipe Builders where you can put ingredients in (all of them), then select how many servings that recipe makes so you can track how much of it you ate. WIth how long this Feature has been requested by a variety of user (2+ years), I would think this feature will hopefully be a priority and added asap!! I currently am using LoseIt's recipe builder to figure out how many calories to plug into FitBit but this is really inconvenient and cumbersome...and I will eventually get tired of using two different apps.

There needs to be an option to save something as a "meal" to favorite for future use.  For example, if you logged 6 food items that make a full meal, it's so much more convenient to save them under the meal name and favorite it if you have that again in the future.  Then you don't have to break the food logging down into pieces each time. It would make it so much more convenient.

I agree!  We need this!!!

Yes, both a "recipe builder" and a "save as a meal" function would make things so much easier.  Making homemade food is healthier so having the option to save a recipe and/or meal will encourage people to eat better.

Similar to the MyFitnessPal platform, it would help tremendously if we could create meals through the Fitbit mobile app using the barcode scanner. Further, we should then be able to then split that full meal into smaller servings (ex. 5 servings, or 1/5 of the meal) to gain a more accurate calorie count.

Since this doesn't exist and I meal-prep now, this issue makes me want to go back to the MFP app for tracking food even though Fitbit now offers an "alternative".

I agree that this needs to be a feature. I do a lot of cooking, which a lot of folks do specifically to control their weight. It's nice that the fitbit will work with other apps that provide this functionality, but I got the fitbit in order to make weight loss easier to manage.

I just started using the recipie calculator at Spark People. I read that recipies added on Spark People will appear on the FitBit app when you integrate them, but I have not been able to get this to work.  I have been adding my recipie on Spark People, then putting the nutritional information into the food I create in FitBit.

I would definitely prefer to do everything thru FitBit.

STILL trying to find a way to create recipes - I cook all meals from scratch, so would like to do this accurately on the app - can't find any help to do it

Sounds like a very good idea. Sometimes it's not enough just correcting the meal contents but the whole recipe instead. This could make logging food even easier. Thank you for sharing your idea with us!

It's been almost two years since this request came out and I've seen a lot of people requesting the same thing- a recipe builder in FitBit.  What is FitBit's plan to support this very popular user request?  Apps like MyFitnessPal have supported recipe building for years!

There are a lot of complaints on the various message baords regarding this.  But if you don't know to place your comment on the Ideas board, are your comments lost?  not worthy?

This request is so basic!!!

I really thought I was missing something when I couldn't break down a recipe by serving size.

Please please - - fix this.

Thanks!

Colleen
