We have low aipressure and stormy weather today in swedens westcoast, and I read 87 floors on my IONIC. I haven´t walked one floor today, so it must be a result of variations in airpressure, and I am wondering about why my watch is sensitive to that fenomena?

We have an underground garage, and the stair to the Entré is the longest about 20 steps to floor 1 as marked. The next stair to floor number 2 is one step shorter and from that stair I get no floor marked either. I read 1 floor from number 2 and upwards on all of my watches, but no floors on my watches from the garage, so there is two Stairs missing counting floors, so now I take the elevator down to floor number two and walk from there upwards and get 1 floor each stair, even if they are only 16 steps./Arne

Fitbit trackers use an altimiter to judge changes in elevation, normally higher elevation means lower air pressure. But sometimes when the air pressure is changing rapidly, Fitbit interprets that as stairs climbed.

I wonder if being underground makes a difference, causing the atmospheric pressure not to vary as much - just guessing.

Hey there @scanier, it's nice to see you around the Community Forums! Fitbit devices that count floors have an altimeter sensor that can detect when you're going up or down in elevation. Your device registers one floor when you climb about 10 feet at one time. It does not register floors when you go down.
Fitbit devices do not count the elevation gains simulated from a StairMaster, inclined treadmill, or other stationary exercise equipment. Your device uses changes in barometric pressure to detect elevation change, and therefore requires that you physically change elevation in order to properly record floors.

It was so, when I stayed a longer time at the underground garage, I have get registration of all floors climbing uppwards. / Arne

Today I have been down to the garage and put some gear in the car, but that was not long enough to get all stairs from the underground. I didn´t get any steps on my Charge3 watch on my arm, not before floor number 2, which is one floor above the entre´, and our garagefloor is number 0. I shall stay about 5 minutes next time and see what happens,/ Arne

I have three relatively new watches , IONIC, VERSA and Charge3. The problem is, when it´s stormy wheather they react quickley and register many steps as the "builtin" altimeter is fast enough to register an airpressure difference to fast, without any steps, and I can read toomany floors. At the other hand the altimeter is slow and I can´t get steps registered even if I walk upstairs from underground, not before I climb from floor number two and upwards. My sugestion to solve a part of the problem is that the watches never register any Floors without steps at the same time, then there was no floors registered when it´s stormy wheather. / Arne
