Game Golf App Experience

I was able to download the app and put 3 courses on I regularly play (although after several unsuccessful attempts, uninstall/reinstall, etc) so I was pretty stoked when using it for the first time the other day.  Unfortunately the app was most disappointing.  Started out fine but it went back to the clock face before I finished the first par 5 hole, so I had to go back and open the app, select yes to continue the round and then go from there.  This happened on almost all holes except the par 3’s.  The accuracy was fine but having to keep reopening the app just was too frustrating.  It’s back to my Golf Buddy until they figure out how to make this work.🏌️‍:female_sign:

@nsbjkb I hope you're doing well! I moved your post to the Fitbit App Gallery Board as there are more chances to receive an answer to your inquiry here.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Game Golf app. I'm glad to hear that the accuracy was fine. However, having to re open the app often is not the right behavior from this app.

I'd recommend removing the app from your watch. Then, please download it again. This has helped other users in the past.

Try that out and let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Thanks.  I did uninstall and reinstall the app and put 3 courses on.  I’m playing one of them Saturday so will check it out.  Still bringing my golf buddy just in case...will let you know if it works better this time.

@nsbjkb Thanks for your reply and for trying the workaround provided. I hope that will work for you.

I will wait until Saturday for your report. Hope it will work flawlessly for you as the app is great.

Additionally, there is another golf app available at the Fitbit App Gallery you might want to download just to try on Saturday as well. It is called Golf GPS.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Is this for the Ionic?  I can’t find it anywhere.

I did find and downloaded the app.  While on my home WiFi it found 4 courses near me and I was very happy.  However, when I got to one of the courses this afternoon, it kept saying no phone connection and wouldn’t load the course.  Of course, I don’t have WiFi on the golf course - I guess the app needs phone WiFi to work?  Not gonna happen on a golf course!  Good news is the Game Golf worked fine!   No need for any kind of connection.  I’ll keep trying Golf GPS.  Thx!

Found out I didn’t have cellular data enabled for Fitbit - changed the setting and all works with LTE.  I’ll try it Sat. and see if it works!

I tried it for the first time today on my ionic. I had 3/4 battery when I started the round. Battery was completely dead by the 10th hole. I couldn’t figure out how to enter my score either. Is there a tutorial? I charged my watch fully tonight and will attempt to use it again tomorrow.

So far (I only used it once) it only shows distance to the green and a picture of the hole.  No score tracking.  You have to manually go to the next hole but at least it didn’t dump out of the app once yesterday after all 18 holes.  Was your screen on the whole time?  Mine is set for auto so it went off very quickly after showing yardage.

Best Answer
Yes I had the screen on auto not continually on. I though I read you could do scoring but it’s not that big of a deal. I think the map is kind of a waste. My old eyes can’t see it anyone on the screen. Really liked the distance though. Hopefully with a full charge today I will have better luck.

I have a problem with the length specification. In the game Golf app on the smartphone you have to set unit = yard or meter under settings. Since I am here in Germany, I have of course set unit = meter. The distance information from my Garmin S2 is a Entfernungsdifferents of > 20 meters. Depending on the distance, the distance differences were very large. Now I've set my Garmin S2 Golf Watch to yard and compared the distances with the Ionic game Golf app. Now the distance information on both clocks was the same (+-Max 2 meters). This means that although the Game Golf app indicates unit = meter, the distance information is displayed in yards. So, bug in the game Golf app with the version No. 1.0.3 of 27 April 2018. I hope this is also read by the support team. Sincerely Detlev

This is a rather tiresome app.  The app continually asks if I want to continue play after every hole. The information provided is great but it needs to assume continued play until I tell it to quit. I have installed / uninstalled & reinstalled without the issue correcting itself. Any ideas?

Best Answer
I just updated my app and will use it tomorrow and see how it performs. I’m afraid the Fitbit version requires a lot of user input per hole and still doesn’t keep score. Maybe in future updates.

Switched to Ionic from Charge 2 to use as a Golf GPS.  Two APPS available: INITIAL COMMENTS.  (1) GAME GOLF wants way too much information and wants me to log into to an account I had to set up. There should be no need for having my phone nearby and/or using cellular data. GPS is not dependent on cellular data. There dozens of golf GPS watches/devices.Msg board comments aren’t positive.  (2) GOLF GPS provides front middle back yardage however does not auto advance to hole, must advance w/top button. Fitbit can do better at providing a Golf GPS on the GPS enables watches/trackers.

Hi all! Just wanted to jump in here to provide a quick update.

A new version of the Game Golf app (v1.0.4) is now available in the Fitbit App Gallery!

This release includes some improvements for Android users that were having a difficult time loading courses. If you haven't already done so, I recommend updating Game Golf to the latest version.

If you continue to experience any issues updating courses, please let me know the name of the course along with what mobile device and OS you are currently running in this dedicated thread for issues uploading courses.

Thanks all! Let me know if you have any questions.

I have been using GolfGPS for aprix. 1 yr and mine advances to the next hole, initially it did not however I believe the developer updated the app and I may have re-loaded etc.  Not certain why yours does not. Suggest check settings and/or possibly re-load update app.

I get an error as follows:

TypeError: Origin https://app-settings.fitbitdevelopercontent.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.

I am I Ireland - is this an issue?

I removed the app from my watch (Ionic) and reloaded it but the error persists.
