How to get the Weather app to sync?

Ok, I have tried everything, short of totally "burning down the house" -- doing a factory reset with the Ionic, deleting it from my Fitbit account, uninstalling every instance of the Fitbit software, and then hoping that it might magically make the Weather app work if I start everything from scratch.  I have tried everything short of that, and it simply, utterly will not work when I try to input a city name, and it will not work with my phone's current location.  My Weather app is as dead as a piece of software can be dead.

So, does anyone have it working properly?  I would like to know if it actually works halfway well, before I destroy everything else that I've got working.  And could you also describe how it works?  I have the following questions:

How and when does it sync?  I presume it syncs with your phone, and presumably via Bluetooth.  Is that correct, or might it only sync with whatever Wi-Fi connection you used to set the Ionic up with, to begin with?  And if it does sync via Bluetooth on your phone, how often does it sync?  Is the frequency something you can set?

Mainly, I'm wondering if you can pop into the Weather app, and halfway reliably see what the local temperature is outdoors.  If it only syncs once per hour or less frequent, then I'm not so sure it would be worth the effort.

And so on.  Thanks in advance for letting me know how it works, because I really dread going through the factory reset routine, because I went through a nightmare to get my Ionic set up to begin with.  I really don't want to go through that, if it's not likely to work, or if the app is actually quite lame, and not worth the effort to begin with.

Thanks again!

I don’t know. I got the charge 3 when it came out and between the weather app, the app that counts flights of stairs (regularly gave me 60 flights a day) and the band breaking, I ditched Fitbit.

There is no weather icon in my app dashboard, even on my laptop. Trying to get from Celsius to Fahrenheit, I have the Ionic v27.33.1.30.  I have done EVERYTHING. Changed units to Imperial. Logged into my settings, my apps, but I have no weather icon app to change the units. What gives?

I have had no success with the weather showing up on my watch face. I can access it by going to the app but it will not show on the watch face. Very very frustrating!

I followed these steps. My fitbit Versa Lite still will not display the weather and prompts me to sync. It is synced!

My Versa 2 is synced and is not picking up the weather.  The weather app was working when I had a Versa 1!

My weather is not syncing anymore either.  Since 2 days now.  Support was absolutely useless, requesting me to do all kinds of steps without really thinking of the lack of logic to their steps specifically after I tell them I tried most of them, they make me waste time redoing them to accomplish nothing.  I tried just changing from Celsius to Fahrenheit and that isn't changing on the watch, which means there is no transfer from app to watch.

Too many issues not being properly resolved.  Still waiting for the water issue to be resolved.

First time poster here, but I had the exact same problem with my Charge 3.

Just assumed everything would automatically synch.

Not the case.

I went in to the app on my phone.

Click "All Apps"

Click Weather

Click "Settings"

Then ... you have to actually pick the city

As soon as you add your city, it automatically populates on your device.

I feel for the many folks that still experience issues with the Charge 3. I got a C3 last Christmas, and it has worked very well. I just experienced a confounding issue that I first thought was the fault of the C3, but now I think it is just a strange "location" bug. I have an Android phone and have never experienced trouble with the weather app or other aspects of the C3 until a visit to Texas recently. When I arrived in Texas it correctly showed Texas weather. When I returned to Tennessee, the C3 weather still showed me in Texas, and the very strange part was that it was accurately reflecting the current weather in Texas as my "current location." I tried many things to correct it and finally corrected it after hearing about a problem my wife experiences with an iPhone and Apple watch. This makes me think it is a "location" bug instead of a C3 or Android issue. Sometimes my wife's iPhone gets stuck on a wrong location, and she discovered that the solution is to touch the compass icon in Google maps until it somehow corrects itself. That doesn't make sense to me but has worked with her iPhone and Google Maps. I don't typically keep GPS active, but I activated it in Texas to use Google maps. Then I deactivated GPS. But when I returned to Tennessee the C3 weather app was stuck in Texas. When I reactivated GPS in Tennessee, opened Google maps, closed Google maps, and then synched my C3 with my phone, my correct current location was there and was accurate. I hope this helps someone else.

I am having the same issue, I have configured the Weather App on my phone to include my home city, Ottawa. When I did this originally, it worked fine. When I swiped on my phone to the weather, I got Ottawa and the temps etc.

Today, swiping to the app displays Ottawa with "-" dashes where the temp data should be along with a message indicating the phone needs to be synced with the Fitbit app. So I click "Sync Now" on the Fitbit app which works fine except the Weather App still shows "-"'s  instead of data.

The Fitbot app, after syncing, shows all the right other data like steps, heart rate etc. Just the WeatherApp does not update.

change location status to always allow

re-sync fitbit

My weather will work for maybe two days sometimes only one day, it won’t synk and keeps telling I don’t have WiFi when everything else works. I’m using it with my Apple I phone which I was told would work with my versa 2 watch. I’m not happy.

Do yourself a favor.  Don't bother with the weather app or any other than the exercise apps.  Honestly, I find many of the apps have trouble doing what they are supposed to do.  I can manage to get things working more or less ok thru my tablet,  but if I try using my pc with the windows version of the app, it wreaks havoc and chaos on my watch and messes up most of my apps and their settings.  I have complained and written and called fitbit support but unfortunately the support is inexperienced and have little to no knowledge on how to resolve these issues.  Like MOST companies I have dealt with (and I work in tech support so I speak to MANY companies, so I can claim to be a good authority on this), their solution to most problems is "Do a reset of..." Your windows on pc, Android on a tablet, firmware on your Fitbit watch, and so on.  Always reset reset reset.  THAT IS NOT A FREAKIN SOLUTION!!!  It just delays the inevitable truth which is after a reset when you reinstall everything (IFFFFFFF you can manage to recall how everything was) your problem will be back.  That's like saying to someone who's car has a flat tire, "Turn off your car and the problem is resolved".  OK fine, so what happens when you turn your car back on?  EH? EH???

Give up.  You won't find solace or resolution in this or any other forum.

Don't mean to be a killjoy but I'm trying to save you from the pain and anguish I've gone thru all this "DOO DOO", lol.

Believe me when I say, I DO feel your pain.

G'luck!

What do you mean by "Clicking on My Apps". I see nothing on Fitbit with that description.
