Strava Authorization state: Not Authorized

Hello.

I got my Ionic a few days ago and I have a bit of a problem with getting Strava app to work. I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question or it should be posted in Windows phone app section.

This is my hardware:

Fitbit Ionic

Windows 10 mobile on Microsoft Lumia 950 XL

When I open settings of Strava app on my phone Fitbit app, I click on Authorize and then I'm asked to log in with my Strava loggin passwords. I do that I'm shown another window (picture 2) where I can click on authorize or cancel. I click on authorize and then I'm thrown back (picture 1) to Strava app settings and it says it's not authorized.

I can authorize Strava - Fitbit connection if I do it on my PC on a Fitbit dashboard there. Then Strava is authorized and data from my run activity was transfered to my Strava account.

But the app on my Ionic just say "no recent activity" as it still says on my phone app that Strava isn't authorized.

How can I make this app working?

It's nice to see you around the forums @Tomaz32! Thanks for the screen shots provided.

Thanks for already troubleshooting this inconvenience between your Fitbit and Strava, nice way to go!

To resolve the problem with Strava, please make sure you have connected your Strava account to Fitbit. For instructions to link them please visit this article.

Then, please follow these instructions:

  • From the Fitbit app tap the Ionic icon > Apps > My Apps
  • Tap the gear icon next to Strava > Authorize
  • Login to your Strava account > Authorize

Please keep in mind the maps of your activities won't be shown immediately once Strava is selected, but it is necessary selecting each activity in order to access them. On your Ionic you will be able to see the last 10 workouts. For information about what data will be transferred between your accounts please check out this post. The following activities won't be synchronized to Strava:

  • Non-GPS activities
  • Previously completed activities
  • Duplicate activities—that is, if you already recorded an activity with Strava, a Fitbit activity that occurs at the same time won't sync.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

hi can i ask, since you correctly authorized on your pc and it now says no recent activity, have you carried out any runs, bike rides etc?

seems to me you may have succesfully linked accounts.

try also having both apps open on your phone and syncing your watch after an activity

I did make a run and the data was transfered to my strava account as I can see all the data from that run there.

The problem is with connection between strava app on Ionic and fitbit app on Windows phone. When I go into settings for Strava app in a Fitbit app on my windows phone, I click on authorize, I am asked to log in with my strava logging information, then I am asked to authorize and then I'm thrown back into Strava app settings inside Fitbit app and nothing happens. It just says Not authorized.

I am quite sick of the "canned" responses that are quite unhelpful from Fitbit Staff.

Make sure that your Ionic syncs completely after the Authorization of the app. This transfers the settings to Ionic.

Also in case you haven't already done so..

So the Strava App for the Ionic only shows exercises that have synced to Strava. If you want the exercises you do on the Ionic to sync across to Strava you need to set up that link too.

First step is to authorize Fitbit to send data to Strava. This is done by going to http://strava.fitbit.com/. Follow all the steps to allow Fitbit activities to be passed to Strava

From looking at your screenshots it looks like you have already authorized the Strava app for the Fitbit Ionic to pull this info from Strava.

Testing:

  1. Do a GPS tracked activity (run/walk/cycle) on Ionic.
  2. Sync to Fitbit App.
  3. Wait around 10 mins for Fitbit data to sync to Strava.
  4. Then perform a sync of the Ionic again.
  5. Check the Strava app on the Ionic.

Hopefully this is useful.

Ahhh.I have exactly the same issue. Latest version of firmware, and mobile app, even reinstalled it, on my Windows 10 Mobile, and same result as Tomaz, even when authorized still says it is not and can only see runs in Strava online but not on Ionic.

Best Answer

1. I opened http://strava.fitbit.com/ on my computer, followed the instructions there and authorised strava.

2. When I opened my strava page on my PC, opened settings there and under My Apps it says that I have granted access to my strava data to Fitbit.

3. When I open my Fitbit dashboard on my PC, under settings/applications it says "You have authorized these apps to interact with your Fitbit account" for Strava.

4. Then I did this on my Windows phone Fitbit app:

  • From the Fitbit app tap the Ionic icon > Apps > My Apps
  • Tap the gear icon next to Strava > Authorize
  • Login to your Strava account > Authorize

And then I see first what is on Picture 1 on my opening post here, then I see what is on Picture 2 in my opening post and when I tap on authorize, I'm thrown back to what is on Picture 1.

I did record a run after that and the data about that run from my Ionic is seen on my Strava page. But when I open Strava app on my Ionic, it still says no recent activity.

@Tomaz32look at this thread

Every now and then, backend connectivity from Fitbit to Strava goes for a toss and activities don't sync. There seems to be one such episode in progress for last 3-4 days.

I have the same exact problem, with my android device and my new iconic. it goes through the process, I get the prompt to login to strava, and then goes back to the scree saying not authorized,. I go to stravas website portal for my account and it shows my garmin and my fit bit. This, and pandora was the whole reason I purchased this thing,

Hmm?  Would contact Tech Support in that case.  Def works for me using Ionic to Android + Ionic to Apple.  I sync my exercises to both mobile platforms and it works.  Uploads and downloads.

Strava integration + onboard music were fundamental reasons for me trying out this Ionic.  Is a very dumbed down limited app on the watch -> but does push the exercises up to Strava.  If you edit in Strava -> the changes are reflected back to Ionic.  Which is proper.

Insofar as Windows phone -> cannot help out there.  Only use mine as a music player now.

I would like to know exactly what phone are you using to synchronize.

To continue, can you please try the solution below :

  • Unlink or disconnect Fitbit and Strava accounts.
  • Restart your Ionic.
  • Link or connect your Fitbit and Strava accounts from a browser (Not from the apps).
  • Try to sync an activity again.

I look forward to your reply. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate in contacting us.

Are you trying to download strava music onto the Ionic? It only supports Pandora or Deezer

Hmm?  That is odd.

1     Go in to your mobile Fitbit App and Tap Apps

2     Scroll down and find the Strava App

3     Allow all Permissions and enter your Strava account details

4     You should now show your account “authorized”

5     Strava logs should show up on your Ionic

6     If not you need to do further steps to get it working

7     Tech Support might be able to help or give me more details

Try that and WIFI sync up the Ionic a few times

It should work unless you linked to Strava with another Fitbit account

Strava btw does not stream music like Pandora or Deezer

My problem is I do not know how to get my exercise from my ionic watch to my strava.

I do not want to take my phone with on my training trips.

The info from my phone however shows on my ionic.
