Hello.
I got my Ionic a few days ago and I have a bit of a problem with getting Strava app to work. I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question or it should be posted in Windows phone app section.
This is my hardware:
Fitbit Ionic
Windows 10 mobile on Microsoft Lumia 950 XL
When I open settings of Strava app on my phone Fitbit app, I click on Authorize and then I'm asked to log in with my Strava loggin passwords. I do that I'm shown another window (picture 2) where I can click on authorize or cancel. I click on authorize and then I'm thrown back (picture 1) to Strava app settings and it says it's not authorized.
I can authorize Strava - Fitbit connection if I do it on my PC on a Fitbit dashboard there. Then Strava is authorized and data from my run activity was transfered to my Strava account.
But the app on my Ionic just say "no recent activity" as it still says on my phone app that Strava isn't authorized.
How can I make this app working?

“The info from my phone however shows on my ionic.”
What do you mean by this? What info? You need to explain what exactly you have done so far and what troubleshooting. Did you follow my suggestions noted already?

How do I get my ionic to allow strava to start working? It keeps saying go to the app on my Fitbit app but it doesn’t show any apps

If the Strava App is not in My Apps scroll down and reload it from All Apps. In the search bar type in Strava and it should pop up.
The Strava icon should show up on the Ionic if you swipe across in a new watch. It will say go to your Fitbit App to connect. In there allow the Permissions and in Settings connect with your user and password. It should connect after a few syncs.
Try that and see if that works.

@NatNat1 are you asking about the ionic app on the ionic (simply tap your tracker, then the box for appps, the settings cog buy Strava, or attaching your Fitbit account to Strava.

Hi @NatNat1, unfortunately the Strava app on the Ionic is only a reporting app. It only shows the results of previous runs and you can't use it to record a run or perform any other function during a run. You'll need to continue to use the Fitbit exercise app to record your run, sync your results to Strava, and then once the run is posted in Strava, sync again to get results back in the Ionic Strava app. I wish the Strava app had more function, but it is what it is.

You are also able to link your Strava account to your Fitbit account.
Once linked your GPS recorded runs on the ionic will be sent to Strava.
Then the Ionic Strava will be able to log into your Atrava account and display this run.

“I can now view my recents runs via strava but I can’t get it to record a run”
Simple answer -> the Strava App only reports recent Activities you have in Strava.
But at least you can now view your recent Strava runs. But as noted in my other threads -> the Strava implementation is very dumbed down on the Ionic.
You must first record an Exercise that conforms to Strava upload requirements -> then and only then will it become a Strava activity. Once in Strava you can go in and Edit the name. This change will take hold in Strava and once synced there -> will be sent to Fitbit. Fitbit once synced -> will get this change and drop it into the App. Then finally your watch will get it.
Is a long winded slow silly clunky method to get GPS data to Strava and back. This is the only way to link anything to Strava which was your first question.
Note that in some specific circumstances -> you will have to do more steps to get Strava to link. But this should work in most cases.
So for others reading this thread -> Strava on the Ionic cannot record a run. It only reports what has been uploaded as an Activity to your Strava account. Personally was very disappointed in this dumbed down App. As was not expecting to go thru all this rigmarole to upload then download. But it is what it is. Is better than nothing.

The Strava so is not designed to record a run, your multisport Run mode on the ionic will do this. And it will get sent to Strava.

@NatNat1 I'm not sure which of the above aspects is disappointing

Hi @NatNat1, it's good to see you around in the forums for the first time.
As other Community members have mentioned, you'll be able to see your synced Strava information in the app available in the smartwatch, you can see your last 10 run or bike exercises, but you wouldn't be able to track your Exercises on Strava app using the Ionic watch directly.
You can find other useful details in this article as well: How do I connect my Fitbit account with another app?
I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your reply, Whistler, I wanted the ionic on the understanding I could record my activities via strava using an app.
As it doesn’t do as I thought, I am disappointed to say the least,
i tried to record a run using the Fitbit run, it separated my run into a .5 segment & then a 2.82 segment. I have no idea why but again it’s disappointing.
I wanted the ionic because of the strava app, the fact it’s waterproof (I’m hoping) & also because I do step challenges so it saves me having to wear 2 watches, Though I am still wearing 2 watches 😒

The application Exercise by Fitbit records the run with splits depending on the intervals selected within the app itself (the intervals are called laps). When you link Fitbit with Strava the session is automatically transferred to Strava where you can fully analyze the session you just run.
As said the Ionic Strava app is just a viewer (and therefore its use debatable) but again there is definitely nothing short to have your full session recorded and transferred to Strava.
Therefore I think that there is nothing disappointing and I still fail to understand your opinion.

The Ionic falls short of my expectation and I am allowed to be disappointed by that. Doesn’t matter if you understand it or agree.

Well then I think you might want to go back to the seller. The app description clearly states that you can view, not record.

Yep. The watch is not that powerful of a device. Have never seen this weak of Strava implementation ever. Fitbit should recognize this and take user input like this seriously. Your comments should not be disregarded as they are personally valid.

Hello,
I am trying to login to Strava via my Ionic. In the past everything was OK, but i notices that my activities are not synced. When i go to Strava app i can see authorization state as not authorized and doesn't have an account. Down Strava is Autorized is listed from the app.
When pres on Authorize and click on Authorize button a windows is opening and error is showing.
I am trying to click from the app on Strava Login, but there is no response.
I reinstalled Strava application from the app, Revoke the access via Strava.com, restarted Ionic and the phone, installed Strava again via the app, the same issue is appear - cannot lick and open Strava Login link to enter my credentials.
Please advise how to proceed and how to connect Strava with FitBit.

I'm not familiar with windows, but it looks like the WiFi connection might have an issue, well at least from the icon in the task bar. Confirm that you are fully connected to the WiFi hot-spot and have a working Internet connection. Alternatively you could try turning off the WiFi and seeing if you can authorise over cellular?
