Strava Authorization state: Not Authorized

Hello.

I got my Ionic a few days ago and I have a bit of a problem with getting Strava app to work. I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question or it should be posted in Windows phone app section.

This is my hardware:

Fitbit Ionic

Windows 10 mobile on Microsoft Lumia 950 XL

When I open settings of Strava app on my phone Fitbit app, I click on Authorize and then I'm asked to log in with my Strava loggin passwords. I do that I'm shown another window (picture 2) where I can click on authorize or cancel. I click on authorize and then I'm thrown back (picture 1) to Strava app settings and it says it's not authorized.

I can authorize Strava - Fitbit connection if I do it on my PC on a Fitbit dashboard there. Then Strava is authorized and data from my run activity was transfered to my Strava account.

But the app on my Ionic just say "no recent activity" as it still says on my phone app that Strava isn't authorized.

How can I make this app working?

Thank you for reaching out @Iain_K@surfcast23@brchan@jonb1760 and @DRD63

I would like to ask you if you have the same email address in both accounts: Fitbit and Strava? And if it's the first time that you're trying to link this apps?

Thanks a lot for taking your time to update this thread sharing your experience.

Looking forward to your new comments!

Hi Grace, thanks for your reply and yes, I do have the same email account for Strava and Fitbit. I’ve actually given up with my Ionic and am taking it back for a refund.

@GraceGFitbit Yes same email. Second time connecting.

I had the Strava app installed and syncing workouts to strava, then all of sudden it stopped.  No updates to fitbit software, no passwords changed.

I tried removing access to strava from Fitbit, and removing access to fitbit from Strava.  Tried removing the app and reinstalling.

Now, when I open the Strava app, try to authorize, after I login to Strava and I taken back to the Fitbit app and asked to authorized Strava again. Its an endless loop of authorizing and being taken back to fitbit and being asked to authorize again.

Fitbit, how do you fix this?

Same emails, same.issue

I have exactly the same issue!

Fitbit Ionic + Motorola Moto Z2

I tried:

- Factory Reset.

- remove and reinstall Strava app.

- set all permission on.

- remove authorization on Strava web site, autorauthorize one more time.

- remove device and add device Fitbit app.

- reinstall Fitbit app.

And

Nothing worked!

In my opnopin it's a problem of last firmware update of fitbit Ionic.

I concur. If you look in the browser address it says ‘Fitbit app developer’.

my accounts are linked because a GPS connected exorcise is recorded in both strava and Fitbit. My take is the accounts are linked and working it’s just the settings screen in the app is not coded correctly.

Then em again I could be totally wrong.

It is not a problem of the last firmware update. I have this problem (described in the thread opening post) with my Ionic since the day i bought it.

First I thought maybe it's a problem with using Windows phone, but I see that people have the same problem also with Apple or Android phones.

As I said before ... I went to strava.fitbit.com and connected my fitbit account to my Strava account. When I open my Strava account in a web page it says it's connected to my Fitbit accound. When I open my Fitbit account on my browser it says it's connected with my Strava account.

When I go for a run with gps on in Ionic, the run is logged and transfered to my Strava account and I can see all the data and stats if I open my Strava account in a browser on my PC.

When I go on my phone to Fitbit app, and into settings for downloaded Strava app I go to authorise strava. I enter my mail in password, select all permissions and click "authorise" and I'm thrown back to strava app settings page where it says it's not authorised (see pictures in my thread opening post).

So either all of us are so dumb that we can't configure and use a simple app (eventhough I into compures and stuff for over 20 years) or the app is bugged and need to be fixed.

Thanks jonb, definitely something not right but Fitbit themselves aren’t much help. I did take mine back to the store today and rather than get a refund exchanged for a new one, hopefully this one works better. Incidentally, if anyone from Fitbit does read this, when I took it back the retailer who is one of the UK’s largest did say they have loads of Ionics returned. Nice hardware, get your software and customer support sorted out!

Totally agree

@Jhoop2002 disconnect the accounts using fitbit.com and strava in the browser. reinstall both apps on your phone and try again.

I'm glad it's not just me!  I've had my Ionic since it was launched in the UK (Oct 2017), and whilst the Strave app on the Ionic doesn't work particularly well, it's always been linked ('authorised') without issue.

Since Thursday (17th January), it shows as not authorised, and whenever I try to go through the 'Authorise' process, it whizzes through, without giving me the option to actually do anything, and then just shows as 'not authorised' again.

Please get it sorted.....

Exactly the same issue for me. Can connect Fitbit to Strava but can't authorise the connection from the Strava app settings within Fitbit. Getting really frustrated with it!!
