ANSWERED

What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.

Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?

Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.

How can I rank up?

The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.

Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!

I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.

I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?

Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.

Community ranks and reputation

While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).

i may be mistaken, but i believe that the little blue plus sign next to ones name means that they are a premium member. 🙂

I had one beside my name with a ‘1’ in it, now it has disappeared….is that the one you are referring too?

look at the post a few above this one @SunsetRunner. beside their photo is a blue plus sign, that means that they are premium. 🙂

Hi There!

The blue plus signs are fitbit users who have upgraded their fitbit account
to premium.

Thank you for responding - there is a light at the end of the tunnel, awesome! I am not ready for Premium yet as I am still getting use to all the functions on my Charger HR; perhaps when I show consistency, I can afford to do that. Is there really a benefit to becoming a Premium Member?

BCGhostbear - Like yourself, I decided to wait until later to even consider Fitbit's Premium. So I cannot yet say if it is worth it to me. However, I've read within the Forums some have said it is worth it; I've heard of none saying they regretted it. To decide for yourself, I've seen they offer the first week for free. In that way you can decide for yourself at no cost and then decide if it's worth it or not.

I was going to reply yesterday but I had troubles logging myself in. In addition to my Surge I had the Aria in my account. Then I added my wife's Charge HR. Not knowing how to add (answer is to invite within my own account by clicking on Aria . . .) her to the Aria, I managed to get locked out of my own account. Even not being a Premium member, I got to say I feel respoonses from Support are quite good, although it might take a couple of days or so by E-mail. Faster response is available by simply calling them. Hope this helps! - Ron

Wow, I had no idea there was even a ranking system. I just enjoy getting info through the community! I'll definitely pay more attention to voting up and answering posts. Thanks!

Hi Tallulahart, I just started the last part of March, so I guess I've been here a little over a month.  But I get way more support from the 'friends' I have chosen, than from these blogs.  Good luck to you!

I do suppose what one is looking for in a response - I have had very positive results with the blogs, with most being very helpful. Friends do help, especially if they have been through the same situation as you and have found the answer, but blogs are good too as a group comes together to form a ‘community’ which makes it feel like friends. Using both forms works, again depending on what you are looking for.

As a Senior, my 65+ group is very helpful and I enjoy reading some of the things they write about, like going to a friends home for a visit. Happy tracking!

That was very informative main post. The post mentioned giving suggestions on title names. Fitbit could add world runner before or after vip title .

I'm wondering how I was listed as a recovery runner.The fact I
is 7 yrs ago I was in a car accident that left me in bad shape including no feeling from my hip down on my left side and
a lot more injuries.
I taught myself to walk again by feeling pressure on the bottom of my left foot, then started jogging. About then I purchased me 1st Fitbit and now am running 25 to 30 miles a week.
My goal is to race for Nike again but that's a ways away. I think if I hadn't got a tool like Fitbit I'd still be sitting on the couch feeling sorry for my self.

If I understand the rankings correctly, it has to do with the number of times your vote or reply re the blogs or peoples comments.  I think what you have done is amazing and worth 'shouting' about - with your positive attitude and determination, you can do anything. Woman Happy

I don't know how you find time to run 30 miles a week!  I'm still at the one and 2 miles a day and I'm trying to find time to jog a 5 to 6 mile circle on Saturday.

Great job on your recovery!

My runs (jogging at this point) consists of 2 to 3 two mile runs each day or about 20 Minutes in the morning, afternoon or evening. I still am trying to run farther each time but it's taking time to coordinate my legs synchronizing so I won't fall when my left foot hits the ground.
