ANSWERED

What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.

Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?

Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.

How can I rank up?

The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.

Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!

I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.

I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?

Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.

Community ranks and reputation

While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).

Does the community rank corelate wit the discussion Board usage or the progress in the Fitbit Community.

Just curious, what's the little blue Plus sign that shows up beside my picture? I noticed Moderators and Community Council members have it. Since I am neither I am curious how I got it and how I can maintain it! Smiley Happy

Never really paid attention to the blue plus sign.  Now, I'm curious, too.

I think I figured it out. I think if you have it, it indicates you're a premium member. I just got premium a few days ago so that would make sense

@eod5050 The rank corresponds only to how active you are on these discussion boards. It's based on how many times you post or vote, how often your answers are the accepted solution, that sort of thing.

The plus sign indicates having premium.

I'm confused as to what the first set of ranks are compared to the second, longer group, and why are they seperated? for example, "first steps" is listed in the first set, and then the longer group is below it. These are seperate groups or are they all in one order, regardless of the seperation? I'm sure it's simple, I just couldn't decipher this.

Each rank follows the previous one, they are displayed in order @CandyElektra

No clue why it's seperated though. Smiley Wink

I don't think I've seen anyone with a "walker" title. It seems as if everybody goes straight from "Keeping Pace" to "Recovery Runner." Maybe you get the walker titles if you read but don't post?

Glad to know that we get ranks for posting!

Thank you so much for this privilege!  I am truly honored.  I get even more motivated when I get these rewards!  I will be honest with you I am so motivated and determined and do not quit at anything I do.  I bought Fitbit Force and the Aria in January, 2014 and have had great success.  I am a constant reinforcement of the positive impact and all the different uses the products have and have made a significant impact on my successes.

I am now getting many messages and emails on how I can help people.  I am keeping busy answering every message and email.  I finally found my purpose!  I will never turn my back on helping the Fitbit community.

I am humbly grateful for your recognition.

Speaking of the red, green, and yellow zones--what is the deal? I am mostly yellow, which I thought would be good, but should I be trying for green? I have figured the red is too many calories for the walking I did. Thanks!

I would like to know the answer to that myself.  I can't seem to figure it out.

The yellow stands for "light", the orange stands for moderate" and the green stands for "very" and in light activity, moderate, very...  I hope this makes sense!  🙂

When I hover over (or point at) the blue plus sign, it says Premium User. No idea why that works for me but others are wondering what it is. Could it be because I have a PC running on Windows 7 and Google Chrome? Or maybe others aren't waiting long enough for it to display . . . takes me only a second.

use search box, type in new fitbit user. Hope it helps. I refer to it once in a while to see something interesting or seeking advise from there.
