Who thought this was necessary? Why in the world would grading people ON THEIR SLEEP ever be considered a good idea? At this point it can be assumed that most users who have a Fitbit are using it for their sleep data. We are all completely capable of understanding that 4 hours is bad, 5 hours still bad, 6 hours not great but better, 7 hours much better, 8+ hours is really good, etc, etc. Under no circumstances is it necessary to GRADE us on our in/ability to SLEEP!!!! It's completely juvenile.
At a bare minimum you need to make this feature able to be turned off. It's absurd that that isn't a default, to be able to turn off certain aspects of the app. Please change this and make it so we can turn off this assumptive, judgmental, and useless feature.

Hi @Catchoo - If you do not want to see your sleep score, you can remove the Sleep Tile in the Fitbit app. You can also stop sleep data from showing up on some of the Fitbit devices, such as the Versa family. Personally, I find the new scoring helpful. I’ve even shared aspects of it with my doctor who also found it helpful.

How many posts from so many different users does it take before somebody responds to this issue as has been requested literally hundreds of times so far on this thread alone. This new USELESS sleep score made me Google for a solution and for the first time ever actually post in the Fitbit forums. And moderators show up once in a while adding/forwarding comments from new and different threads and users about this very same subject. So obviously the Fitbit staff KNOWS all that's going on here.
The score you get after each night's sleep is totally useless, arbitrary, makes no sense and ELIMINATES what was vital; SEEING THE AVERAGE AMOUNT OF SLEEP THAT WE'RE GETTING FOR EACH NIGHT, EACH WEEK, EACH MONTH AND EVEN EACH YEAR! Anytime I see my average of sleep start dipping below 7 hours then I am almost always determined to make real choices in the following days to get caught back up. Less cocktail hour, earlier dinner and obviously planned earlier bedtime. Even naps in the afternoon can really help step up your average for the week and you can 100 percent FEEL THE DIFFERENCE when you're doing better. This NEW and current 'sleep rating' change is truly embarrassing to Fitbit, it's meaningless and USELESS to real life users like me. (I get high scores with only 5.5 hours of sleep and lower scores with over 8 hours, so who can explain THAT???) And if you have any doubts about this real mess up going on with the sleep score please look at all of the negative feedback on this one single issue. It just seems like it's time for someone, somewhere to make the change and let all of us who are following and contributing to this forum know about it. Thank you.

I'm happy for you that you find this useful.
Why in the WORLD would I remove the sleep tile?????? One of the major aspects of having this device is to SEE THE SLEEP DATA!
What I am specifically posting to this forum about, and what others are posting about as well, is the new "sleep score." It is useless and meaningless. Anyone with any capacity for understanding collated data can comprehend that 5 hours is bad and 8 hours is good. We do not need to be GRADED on our SLEEP. People are graded in school their whole lives. K-12, and then any college or schooling after.
Not to mention that 6hrs=76, 7hrs=79, 8hr=85, and 9hrs=89. WHAT?! WHY? Does 10hrs of sleep get me over 90?? Who cares? It's meaningless.
As for showing any tracker's information to physicians, they find any and all data from these types of watches as completely irrelevant and will not use it in any way. They're not allowed to use the information because each user's data is subjective and varies drastically from person to person.

This new score feature replacing hours slept turned me off big time. Might as well get a Garmin Vivoactive 4 now, even though their sleep tracking is inferior. Well Fitbit's just got useless as far as I'm concerned. Also, Garmin has it's coach totally free. Really considering switching ecosystems, which is a shame, as I've got 3+ years of stats on Fitbit platform 😞

@SunsetRunner You sleep hours have did not disappear. They are still there. After you tap on your sleep tile, swipe to the left on your Sleep Score graph. Next is your Hours Slept, then Sleep Schedule, followed by Hours in Sleep Stages.

I know that the app shows sleep time for each night, but there is no way to see average for a whole week. What's more, they deleted all average times prior to sleep score update!

@SunsetRunner - Fitbit did not “delete all average times.” You can view your 30 day average. To view this, tap your daily graph, then Deep and REM. From there, you have options to view Today, 30 Day Average and Benchmark.

I feel the exact same way. I've been using Fitbit since they first came out, before the watches, and am completely frustrated with the way they're revamping the data usage. If they can't fix it I'm gonna start shopping around for other fitness watches as well.

@LZeeW We are all discussing the Sleep Score and its uselessness. We all know how to work the app. That’s the point-they changed it for the worse. We are unhappy about that. We know how to swipe and see all the data. We would like the option to go back to how it was before the Sleep Score was introduced. It is a useless feature. And now having to go on a computer to see data that was originally in the app is ludicrous.

And how can I check my week average from July 2019 for example? There's no way to do it.
09-10-2019 04:37
09-10-2019 04:37
Agreed. And furthermore the scores just suck. I had one night of drinking at a party and super crappy sleep around 5.5 hours and I get a 69. Last night, early to bed, solid 7+ hrs and I get an 86. How can the previous night come close to a 69??? I liked being able to see my weekly averages and my sleeping heart rate as well, which I have had since the day I got my Versa.
I hate this change to the update (wish I hadn't done it) and find the timing spectacular. I really hope Apple announces better sleep features on the Apple Watch today. I had looked into possibly getting the Versa 2, but I'm not paying for premium for a bunch of features that I won't use, and for the ones I would, used to be provided to me initially with my device for free. Most of my friends that haven't switched over to the Apple Watch were doing so because of the sleep features, but with add'l apps available and the degradation of Fitbit's there is no reason not to now.
I've been a Fitbit user since 2013, and it looks like that will be changing soon. I'm not a fan of features that existed being taken without notification and then being asked to pay to have them back.

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for your feedback and comments shared.
Sorry for the delayed reply. We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers.
Sleep score will show you duration, quality and restoration, you can learn more about it by checking this article: What's sleep score in the Fitbit app? Keep in mind that if you don't want to see the sleep score, you can still check your average sleep in your online Dashboard.
I'll be around if you need further assistance.

So a user has to log into Fitbit on their computer to be able to see averages?? When I used to be able to access from my app? I honestly never log in to the dashboard that way. Why make it harder?

Look, you want to add a sleep score, fine. I don’t find it useful, but go ahead. Just please put back the data that used to be free in the app like weekly averages, and heart rate during sleep. Don’t take them away then ask your customers to pay more to see it.

Are you all willing to make the Sleep Score be something we can turn off?? A ton of us loyal Fitbit users HATE it. It should be a feature that is able to be toggled off. "Bedtime Reminder" and "Sleep Insights" have that option. Are you willing to make Sleep Score be optional to users?
Also, why did they make sleeping heartrate a premium feature (that we would have to pay for) when it used to be free? How is that not an underhanded move by Fitbit? It sure feels that way to us users who have been with Fitbit for the past 7 years.
Making us logon to a computer to see basic data (average sleep,) which is easy to include in the app, is completely unnecessary, and also useless to users. The average user only uses the app.
We have 4 users in my household alone who HATE this feature and what you have taken away and made only available in the premium "upgrade." I can tell you right not, none of us in our house will be signing up to pay for what we can get in a plethora of other apps for free (or super cheap/1 time fee.) We are all very unhappy with Fitbit.

I agree that we shouldn't have to pay for a feature that was free when we purchased the Fitbit. I cannot see my average sleep on my dashboard. All I get are sleep numbers that are meaningless.

That does NOT display average sleep time. It displays the averages of the percentage of the time (whatever that might have been) in that particular stage. Again, not what someone is looking for if they want to know "HOW MUCH SLEEP AM I GETTING?".

I completely agree, sleep score is a useless, unreliable feature. It gives a fair or even good score for sleepless nights during which sleep time was below give hours and woke up awfully tired. I am also considering switching to Garmin.
