Fitbit Premium Checkout is filling in the Wrong Gmail Account for Google Pay

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am trying to sign up for the Fitbit premium six month trial through the Fitbit Android app on my Galaxy S20 phone.

My kids use my credit card number for google pay on their phones.

When I click on the line where it shows Google Pay with the last digits of my credit card then it shows my credit card, but it shows my son's gmail address, not my address which is the one I use for the login on my phone, for the Google Play store and also is the one that I use for my Fitbit login.

How do I change to my email address?

I tried selecting to add my card but it still uses my son's email address and wants me to enter his Gmail password.

My son's email address comes alphabetically before mine in the Accounts section of the Android settings so maybe that is why it is picking it up.

There are quite a few email addresses in teh lsit before theone that I need to use so I do not want to delete them temporarily.

I'm also getting this issue on a Samsung S9 Plus, it is preventing me from ordering Fitbit premium completely because I cannot use Google Pay on my second G suite account.

I had a long chat with Fitbit support about this. They just kept saying that it was a problem with my account on my phone and that I should contact Google to fix things so the proper account is chosen.

I kept repeating that my email account is the only one showing for the google play store and is the one that I use to log into my phone and that my son's email address is just used for email in a non-gmail email app but they just repeated themselves.

I asked what about if I try to sign up for Premium on my old phone. They said that would not work.

After I finished chatting with them then I started up my old phone and opened the Fitbit app which was still installed on it. It already showed stats for my Sense in the Dashboard. I went to sign up for Fitbit Premium and on that phone it correctly showed Google Pay for my email address and not my son's. I was able to sign up and received the confirmation on my email address.

This might be a solution for those of you that have an old mobile device around.

I also was having this issue. The Google pay account that is used in the fitbit app for purchases is going to be the one that was used to download the app from the Google play store.

I deleted the Fitbit app, changed the profile to the matching google pay account for the play store, and then redownloaded Fitbit. Now the correct google account was selected for making the purchase.

I was having exactly the same problem. I tried all the solutions proposed here (suscribing directly through the Google Play app and deleting the fitbit app and download it again from my other Google account).

Nevertheless, I eventually managed to solve it. I had to delete the google account that was being wrongly identified by fitbit from my phone. After having done so, fitbit recognised my other google account and I could suscribe to the premium features. After that I introduced again in my phone the google account that I had previously deleted.

I hope this works for you. However, fitbit should check and solve this bug. I spent so much time on this!

I also recommend that Fitbit fix this. I spent a fair bit of time on this issue too. I am not that keen on uninstalling the app and reinstalling it under a different google account, as I'm somewhat concerned about data loss. Can fitbit confirm no data loss?

I am also unable to use the method of deleting the incorrectly picked account as it's required for work.

@Lei33 Hi there. Your feedback is appreciated.

It's not recommended to uninstall the Fitbit app unless a Moderator or Customer Support suggest it. Please follow the instructions in this article about multiple domains, if this doesn't work, it's recommended to contact Play Store for additional insight.

Hope this helps.

I have this same problem. Fitbit simply needs to ask for the account to use. That would solve the problem. I'm having second thoughts about Fitbit and I've had this device only one day.

@BLABB Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling disappointed. While this options isn't yet available, you can always post your idea in our Feature Suggestion board, those are reviewed by our team and the status will change depending on Fitbit plans.

May I know which Fitbit device do you have? You could find the Product Manuals here

Last but not least, take into consideration that Fitbit Premium can be activated from the Fitbit store

Hope this helps.

Charge 5 with app operating on Pixel 4. Seriously, let us pick which Gmail account we want to use for registration if we have more than one on our phones. I'm not removing my wife's account as we share calendar and other things. So, for now, I'm not doing the premium stuff.

@BLABB Thank you for getting back. Glad to hear that you have the Fitbit Charge 5.

In this case, you could try activating the 3 month trial available in the Fitbit Store, this way you can decide if you want to be a Premium member

Hope this helps.

Jeez this is irritating!  I'd like to use the free 6 month premium on my Charge 5 but it keeps trying to use the wrong Google account.  As someone suggested, I did try to un-install the fitbit app, and then re-install it under my desired google account... to no avail.  (I don't care about potentially losing one week of data.)  It didn't work however as Fitbit premium still keeps trying to use the wrong Gmail id.  Would clearing cache work?  Fitbit, I don't know why you can't fix this very basic thing in your application.

I have the same problem - having a work GMail and personal GMail on same phone, and Fitbit offer kept defaulting to my work account, even though all Google Pay has been deleted from that account.  I spent hours trying various possible fixes.  Even logged in on laptop, but the 6-month offer doesn't seem to be available there - only on the phone.

Since nothing in Fitbit account seems to allow me to choose which Google account to associate this with, I ended up deleting the Google account that the Fitbit Premium offer was defaulting to.  Went back to Fitbit app and signed up for the 6-month Premium, and it worked exactly as expected, with the right account. Then added back the Work account, including returning all the settings to where they were (I hope).

There's got to be a better way, but that was the best that I could figure out.

It is ridiculous that this is still an issue a year later. I'm also having the same problem and it is very annoying. The multiple domain link makes no sense and isn't helpful. This isn't a feature, it's a bug and it needs squashed.

Same problem.

I had to do like others and remove the Google account that Fitbit incorrectly chose by default.  Fitbit then recognized the Google account I wanted for Google Pay.  Then I had to re-install that Google other account onto my phone.

It worked, but it is really dumb.  We shouldn't have to search a forum to solve this "in-house" problem.  Since Google owns Fitbit, this should be fixable.  As a first time Fitbit owner, this is not an impressive start.  (Constructive criticism)
