Hi everyone!

I am very excited to announce the official release of Fitbit Premium, now available for purchase in select regions. This post will address some of the top questions we’ve seen for Fitbit Premium. For further details, check the information provided on our product page, our blog post, and help article. Fitbit Premium is available in the Fitbit app on Android and iOS.

Q: What is Fitbit Premium?

A: Fitbit Premium is a paid membership in the Fitbit app that leverages your unique data to deliver personalized, actionable guidance and coaching to help you reach your health and fitness goals. It was created leveraging insights from 10+ years of Fitbit data and academic and medical expertise to help you move more, sleep better and eat well with customized programs, advanced sleep tools, personal insights, hundreds of workouts, new challenges, and more – all in one place and made just for you.

Q: Who is Fitbit Premium for?

A: The Premium membership is for the everyday consumer who is looking for extra support and motivation to begin to make healthy changes to improve their overall health and fitness. It’s perfect for those who are committed to taking action, but may not know where to start.

Q: Have any previously existing Fitbit features moved behind a Premium paywall?

A: No. All the Fitbit app features you enjoyed before Premium are still available for free, and we’ll continue to add new free features in the future. Fitbit Premium adds new paid features, but does not remove any previously free features.

Q: Do I need to pay a recurring fee to use my Fitbit device?

A: No. Your Fitbit device will remain fully operational without a subscription to Fitbit Premium.

Q: Will current Coach users be required to pay more for access to Premium?

A: No. Current Fitbit Coach subscribers will automatically get access to Fitbit Premium features as soon as Premium is available in their country or language. Their subscription price will remain the same as it is today, and for as long as they choose to keep their subscription active.

Q: Has weekly sleep average been replaced by sleep score, or moved to Premium?

A: No, weekly sleep average is still available to everyone. To view it, tap the sleep tile in the app, swipe left on the graphs at the top until you see “Hours in Sleep Stages,” then tap the graph to see your weekly averages.

All Fitbit users will continue to have access to their time asleep, sleep schedule, sleep quality details, as well as weekly hours slept compared to their sleep schedule. Additionally, all Fitbit users with a device capable of heart-rate tracking will also see their sleep stages and sleep score.

Premium members will see all of the above, and also receive a deeper analysis of how their sleep score is calculated. This deeper analysis includes visibility into sub-scores for time asleep, deep and REM sleep stages, and restoration details, which provides analysis of your sleeping heart rate and time spent tossing and turning.

Q: What exactly do I get with Fitbit Premium, versus the free features?

A: All Fitbit users will continue to enjoy the free features in the Fitbit app available today, such as daily and weekly trends for your activity, exercise, heart rate, and sleep, hourly activity, female health tracking, educational insights, the Fitbit community, and logging food, water, and weight.

In addition to this, Fitbit Premium adds:

  • Guided Programs, which leverage expertise from the Fitbit Advisory Panel and internal experts to take you step-by-step through building healthy habits based on your own goals, fitness level, schedule, preferences, and unique stats.
  • Personalized Insights, which surface trends in your unique Fitbit stats to indicate when you’re on the right track with healthy behaviors and give you a gentle nudge when there’s an opportunity to improve.
  • Advanced Sleep Features, which provide personalized sleep insights and a more thorough analysis of your stats with a comprehensive Sleep Score breakdown.
  • Dynamic Workouts, which give you access to thousands of workouts from certified personal trainers that will help you become stronger on your journey to optimal fitness. (Currently accessed with the Fitbit Coach app - but over time, workouts will become available directly in the Fitbit app.)
  • Games and Challenges, which will include adaptive, collaborative, and customizable challenges and games to be played with any family or friends you’re connected to on Fitbit, helping you all to stay motivated.

You can find more details on these Premium features in this blog post.

t just saw that the other day. I thought it was always going to be free? There is only 1 part of the premium that I would use in the sleeping app. Definitely not worth $79.99 a year or $9.99 a month. No one said when they kept bringing out new watches as I fell for it when I went from Alta HR to the Charge 3 that the app would remain free. But when they just changed it, it states you can try it free for 7 days. Sounds like your selling a cable channel. Just isn't fair for us that only use it for HR, sleep, steps. Never has gotten stairs right. Should be at least 15 a day but posts 3 or 4. Yes my stairs are over 10ft high. Which was one of the first things they had me check. Now they want you to pay for just a few things you will use on the premium app. Not fair. May be ok for people that use it for swimming, exercising, hiking but I never use any of them. I'm 66yrs old. All I care about is why I'm so tired and the watch tells me that but the breathing part would be a big help on your breathing but not for one thing for $79.99..

Hello PatSwayze -

The new PREMIUM offers ADDED features for a fee if you’re interested.

If not keep stepping with the features you now enjoy at no additional cost.

Hope this helps clarify 🙂

Personally I’m giving it a try, FitBit has always been Fantastic. Premium content will likely evolve to include more.

The original press release sounds exciting, stay tuned!

I’m in the UK & currently pay yearly for fitbit coach. How do I get it to change over to premium?
I’m currently being offered 7free days

It was posted on the app under the free 7 day. I didn't want to pay for it so I didn't take them up on their offer. Maybe you get a message after you free trial period. I think it should be free. I've had to have my watch replaced and since the old one started working fine,I'm afraid to activate the replacement. I don't want to pay for using only 2 features that were suggested by my Dr. If it was a more expensive watch I might think of it but it's not.

Are we able to share membership within the household?

Hi,

I'm in England and have a coach yearly subscription but still can not access premium services. I can get the coach workouts as they just open in coach however it does show that they should be locked on my Fitbit app.

Any update on this please as it's about frustrating

Best Answer

NO! You can't even put 2 watches on one app.

Premiere one? No one per watch/app. Sucks doesn't it. $79.99 per app. Bad enough you can only put one Charge 3 on a phone. Unlike Alta HR I gave up for.

Anybody from Fitbit still listening to our concerns here. Any update how Fitbit Coach paid subscription will get the new Premium?

Thanks.

Tami... not sure what your region is, but for me in the US the price is $79.99 for a year or $9.99 per month.

Okay. So since everyone that works for Fitbit have given up on this thread.

I did some research and found the answer myself which other people may find useful.

If you already pay for coach but find that premium features are still locked...

LOGOUT OF BOTH APPS. THEN LOG BACK IN.

This comment took 5 seconds to post. It would have been lovely if someone that actually worked for Fitbit could have explained this.

Thanks, @Kayyl3. Although I logged out and in several times in the last days it never worked completely. Yesterday after such an action I received access to the Intro program, but all the others were unlocked but when clicking asked to start the 7days trial.

Now after another logout and in, I can finally access all the guided things.

Great.

Thanks all.

in the Eastern US and I got a message it was $79.99 a year. Way too much since I'm on disability and only use 2 parts. I can't use the exercising parts.

I agree with you. I have never used Fitbit Coach. I'm on Disability and could only use the sleep extra parts. But you can't pick and choose. Just not fair. So I have to stick with the free one since you can't just take a part that I can't use everything else. Fitbit has a sleeping app that they added things useful but not having to pay $79.99 for things I don't use.

Hi everyone! Thanks for sharing your concerns, feedback and comments regarding Fitbit Premium. We appreciate them, as we are very excited for the new features it comes with. I apologize if you don't get an immediate response. The thread was opened to provide information, and hear your concerns, doubts, and feedback. We try to address everything as soon as we can.

@Kayyl3 , thank you for your research and taking the time to share your finding with the other members.

@Ashleihoffmann , have you tried the instructions provided by our friend @Kayyl3 ?

@PatSwayze , the Fitbit Premium membership is not obligatory, as our friend @lilbitcounts2 , already explained, you can still use the normal Fitbit Account, without using Premium . Fitbit Premium is a new service, with further features, for those who want to enjoy a personalized training, insights, and other features, that are not offered on the normal account.  If you consider that Premium is not for you, we understand and respect your decision.  No one is forcing anyone to get premium.  Is up to each an everyone to decide if they want to upgrade the Account.  The Fitbit app and its use will continue to be free.

@lilbitcounts2 , thanks for the explanation, and taking the time to address @PatSwayze  concerns.

@Catdad212 , the content of Fitbit Premium is personal to provide you with a more personalized experience, since it's linked to your progress, information and records. According to your data and feedback, the features will be adapted to your personal settings.

@Katriona  @ratoiul  , if you still getting the offer for the 7 day trial for Fitbit Premium, it means that the integration to Coach is not available in your country yet. I appreciate your enthusiasm and patience until we have everything integrated.

@Kmortaz , thank you for your interest!  With Fitbit Premium you'll receive personalized insights based on your food record and weight goal or nutrition plan. You won't get a council or trainer, that will create menu for you or tell you what is wrong or good to eat.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

But people that don't use all the features should be able to use one or two that is beneficial to them. i use it for sleep and HR. You should be able to just purchase a few parts of the app.if that's all you need. These watches were supposed to show oxygen levels and that never happened in any update.
