I received my pixel watch 2 yesterday along with my pixel 8 pro. When trying to sign up for the 6 month premium trial I am given an error and payment failed message. I've force closed and deleted cache and still same error with multiple cards.

Given what you've said, I'm inclined to believe this is a one-time occurrence that isn't particularly regular. What I recommend is that you go to the following link and try to receive the free trial there.
