Download HeartRate data.

Hi all!

As computer tech specialist I love data. That's also one reason why I bought my Fitbit Charge HR. Just to get more data about how my body works in several situations.

On the "Personal Settings" site you can download some of your data like: Body, Foods, Activity and Sleep.

What I really miss here is the HeartRate data.

On the Android app I can see my HeartRate during the whole day, on the dashboard I can only see my HeartRate during excecises or just my Resting Heart Rate.

Is there anyway how I can see my 'whole day' HeartRate online? And a possibility to download this data into a .csv file like other data?

Thanks!

@LanuzaFitbit  Thanks for the prompt reply.. This issue has occurred over months..It has been up and down with the amount of data.. I can understand the need for data space.

I have a very low sleeping HR, last night it got down to 44.. (medically all OK).. I have verified my pulse rate with my Omron BP device while awake and that has the same reading as the Ionic..

Here is the example from Pulse Watch and your site. You can see where the gradient changes and that matches the Pulse Watch graph for the 2 minutes.

@iccir919For information and thanks for the ability to show the exact timings of each pulse.

Hello @Colinm39.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I'll be bringing this up to the team. I can say that at the moment we do not have any details on the matter and that given that those alternatives are not official we wouldn't be able to vouch for their accuracy and say that it is possible that something got lost in the connection.

Feel free to let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

@LanuzaFitbit  Maybe I have got an answer for this issue... and... based on the information below we need Fitbit to tell us if we want more HR BPM we can only do that on planned activities activated from the Fitbit device..ie Workout, Yoga an Walking etc.

I just set the watch for Workout for 9 minutes and after syncing I downloaded 34 bpm from your site and Pulse Watch matched that.  The 10 minutes before that averaged 7 bpm for normal domestics.

Left a time gap and selected Yoga for 7 minutes and the data was 32bpm on Fitbit and Pulse Watch.  The gap time in between the Workout and the Yoga was 7 minutes and that averaged 7 bpm..

Just set Workout while I'm typing this and the result was 27bpm from Fitbit and Pulse Watch

So from those tests it has nothing to do with the intensity of the Exercise but definitely if you select an Exercise on the Fitbit you get about 2+ seconds/heart pulse.

So to improve my sleep recording of the HR I will set the Ionic to Workout tonight and see two things, the HR/minute and the battery life.

The frequency with which HR samples are made available definitely increases when using the Activity app. You can see this if you download your detailed HR data.

@GondwanaThanks for confirming that.. A few months ago I was analysing my sleep data and I had no issues then, downloading the full compliment of HR data without using an Exercise app on the Fitbit.

So your reply has confirmed that Fitbit have changed the goal posts..

I was trying to pickup my missing heart beat. When that occurs it has a couple of faster catch ups. (All medically OK'd)

I still couldn't detect that on the exported data because when it misses a beat the HR is normally around 47bpm.. even at a beat every 2 seconds it misses.

I'm not sure I'd say the Fitbit has changed the goalposts. I've been looking at the detailed intra-day HR readings for about three years now, and the difference between sampling rates using the Activity app (or its equivalent) has always existed in that time.

Detecting individual beats is always going to be problematic because the API reports rate rather than interval.

@Gondwana I agree with you on the sampling on planned exercises but I was getting the ave of 25 pulses/minute earlier this year from my sleep data

Just did the export for a 3 hour period from June and the rate was 26 pulses/minute and last night was 7 pulses/minute.

@iccir919I have posted this link elsewhere which you would have already received the notification..

But it's here for the others to view because of an error I have found in the new data export system.for HR data.

Found the Error in the HR data in the New Export link is giving me the tile as GMT..

We will see how Fitbit responds after the weekend..

Hi @Colinm39,

I created a little widget for you to download the data with your desired timezone into a .csv file. Let me know how it works for you.

Check out the Fitbit Data JSON to .csv File Converter

There might be some bugs with it but let me know about them and I will work em out as soon as possible. Creating useful things for others is my goal and passion.

Also, side note, thank you for the many thanks and mentions in many other posts around the Fitbit Community forums for Pulse Watch. Please let me know if you have any other ideas for it!

@iccir919. The Converter works perfectly for me with the HR data and the extracted Time Zone matches the data exactly from your other link. Well done.

Fortunately I have the other data and will see what happens when my Premium Membership expires..

I prefer the direct web link as I posted earlier..

@iccir919  I wasn't concentrating and realized afterwards this was really a subset of data possible in the other Forum about Export, the HR data..

So for the others interested to prevent cross posting here is the link.

This example is an analysis that I can do now using the PulseWatch software, my Ionic and the Ionic exercise Workout set for my time periods to analyze.. Setting the Ionic to Workout for the entire sleep period, which tyically gives me about 24 pulse/second. I then examine the sleep period and select areas of concern.

I have my results in less than 2 minutes......after I have synced the nights Fitbit data

In this example it was from 5:22am to 8:24am, and I selected the spikes as shown in the time slot of 4 minutes and then 24 seconds of that 4 minutes.

I have this missing heart beat which "sometimes" wakes me at night, so I thought I would try and pick it up.. I can now... As I have mentioned elsewhere the condition has been stress tested a few times by my cardiologists when my GP gets concerned at thje annual checkups.. and all OK...

This has no detrimental affect on the Ionic battery.  I'm getting about 7 days between charges with no GPS, wearing 24/7. All notifications are set and work, I manual view and I don't listen to music.

You ask...... Why do this !!!! . I like to test and compare the accuracy of the Fitbit devices.. I used to use my Polar and interface those results with other 3rd party products.. A pain because it felt like I was trying to massage the new exported data where I only need a subset.. Even went to the stage of a Polar foot device and between all of that getting my HRV values...

Dear SunsetRunner, I've been reading your post about setting up and registering a personal app via the Fitbit developers site. Once this is done, does this work retrospectively (i.e. can I look at historical data) or just new data generated going forward? Thanks 🙂

That was excellent, able to fetch HR for my account.

Looking for direct database access for seamless HR data flow in real time instead of exporting manually from your URL.

This will help us on to move forward on AI.

HR data isn't available in the database in real time. HR data is uploaded to the database in batches when the watch syncs.

If you want real-time HR data, you'll need to run your own clockface or app on the watch to gather the data, and send it from there. It can be done, but many have tried and failed.

Check out the SDK forum.

This is a great tool, and I greatly appreciate it. A better question may be: why doesn't Fitbit itself offer this?! Funny that I am now a registered squash website user in order to get these useful data!

Any update on this? It appears it was "in the plans for the future" in 2016. Thanks.
