How can I block friend requests? I’m receiving friend requests though this is turned off in the app. Some of them are from members whose profiles are dubious.

Hi @Jpatty
Check your notification sections on the web browser? click to go there
Good for you, ignoring those friend requests from those people. I don't blame you. Some people only friend those they know in real life and others friend anyone they can add, just like my niece on Facebook. She doesn't even know half the people she randomly accepts.
If you get any unwanted messages, be sure to report those to Fitbit.
See if changing the notifications helps any.
Keep on stepping!

Thank you for your kind answer. As I said in my post, notifications are turned off for friend requests, but they show up in messages anyway. I’ll just keep ignoring them, though it’s kind of creepy. Thanks

I am also getting friend requests in my e-mails from only men -- I find it disgusting. and Fit bit has not seem to figured out that I did not willingly give my e-mail. Hate this -- more than creepy

I just completed a Chat with Fitbit Support on this issue -- the one step that I did not take was that after
I made changes my setting for:
Friend Requests
A Fitbit user wants to add you as a friend.
I blanked this for mobile and email.
But I did NOT sign out so changes could take effect.
When I did that at the request of the support person on chat, she said that she saw the change take effect on the Fitbit system. hopefully that will resolve it. I did notice that at the bottom of the e-mail was an unsubscribe button - I did not push it this time, let support help me. If I get more I will click that.

Yeah, I only get notifications from allegedly hot women that I've never heard of, and I'm not somebody who signs up for challenges. I thought I had all that stuff turned off, but apparently not, and setting the Preferences link given above will hopefully fix that.

Exaxctly @Thecrispycook , the kids aren't in school and have to play somewhere. We've had them on the forums and they usually leave after they don't get the response they want. Stay well and be safe!

Doesn't work. I did not turn on Friend Requests but random men are pinging me. Please fix this.

I continually get such requests despite my settings in the app and online. The chat feature was useless. I was told they could not be stopped regardless of what I wanted or my settings. I believe this is a violation of federal law and constitutes unlawful spam.
Fitbit needs to get its act together on this.

@SunsetRunner it's not just Fitbit, it's all places. Apple and Garmin have their share of random friend requests and anyone playing online games will also experience it. It's an internet problem and not specific to Fitbit. I ignore such requests and don't dwell on it.

I disagree. I only get such emails from and through Fitbit. It is their membership. They need to control it. If I want emails to stop from any other company or app, they stop.

I see that I am not the only one what is having these unwanted messages and friend requests from unwanted friends. You contact Fitbit and they cannot give you any assistance at all with this problem. They just tell you to post your problem in the "community" which does not solve the problem at all. I see this problem and been going on for a few years looking at the dates and Fitbit is not doing ANYTHiNG to help. I will be going back to the Apple Watch.

I cancelled my account and started over again. I cannot even figure out how I got your message if the account was deleted!

My young daughter gets a constant stream of friend requests, and there appears to be no way to stop them. While we can turn off the notifications, they are still in the app, and she links up with anyone. I'm sure most people are decent, but how can one tell? We bought the fitbit for fitness, not for chat. Unless there is a way to stop all friend requests completely (how do they even find her?) then we will be ditching fitbit for some other system with decent contact controls.

She is as locked down as I can make her (on FitBit!) and has a generic picture.

I see that this has been a problem that dates back to 2015. I have asked customer support and they can’t seem to find a solution. What I have noticed is that they send you a friend request and later make an attempt to try to form a relationship with you. So please tell your daughter to be careful. I have asked each guy how did they find me to even be able to send me a friend request and I have received a vague answer from each one. So please tell your daughter to be careful or maybe you can monitor her messages by logging into her Fitbit account from your phone or computer. I think I’m going to go back to the Apple Watch because this is getting to be too much too frequently and it doesn’t look like the makers of Fitbit even care. I just don’t want this to be another way that a young lady or man gets trapped in some type of money or sex scam because it’s scary.
