New Flex 2 won't charge

I just unboxed the Fitbit Flex 2; it’s brand new. I have an iPhone 12 Max, set up was easy, but the Fitbit is not charging. Maybe it’s a lemon; just not sure what’s going on. I charge it all day...nothing.

This is easily done but is the Flex 2 in the USB cradle the right way round so that the pins on the back of the Flex 2 and the charging cradle touch? Occasionally I’ve popped it in the wrong way and wondered why it hasn’t charged. 🙂
