2,018 Miles in 2018

Hi all!

I've seen a lot of these groups on Facebook and thought that those of you without Facebook (or even those with Facebook) might like to join me in a challenge.  The challenge is to walk or run 2,018 in the year 2018.  It is open to everyone in the Fitbit Community, and you can post your updates here either weekly or monthly, whatever works for you!  I'll start:

Week 1: 7.46 miles so far

Who's with me?

So what does this mean in numbers:

Miles a month: 2,018 miles this year/12 months a year= 168 miles a month

Miles a week: 2,108 miles this year/52 weeks a year= 38.8 miles a week (or 39 if you are rounding up)

Miles a day: 2,018 miles this year/365 days a year= 5.5 miles a day

Helen)(@SunsetRunner), your 60 mile guess is pretty close, I think.

I also think you're very close to the pace.

Hi all

Just to let you know I've contacted Fitbit re the issue with the Group data. Hopefully they will be able to find out why no one has been able to see the members list, or view the data for the last week. Fingers crossed they'll somehow be able to resurrect it.

cheers

Just heard back from Fitbit. Their engineers are aware of the problem, and are working to fix it as quickly as possible. Hopefully we'll be back up and stepping soon!

I've managed 153 miles so far in February (as of 12th Feb).

I am quite pleased yesterday as I spent 9 hours on various train journeys but still fitted in 11.25 miles. You can get in quite a few steps pacing up and down platforms while waiting for the next connection!!!

Wish I had my FitBit sooner and saw this. I started using it in February on the 8th, and I don't know if I could get enough in to make up for that missing month. I've gone 87 miles since the 8th of Feb. I'm basically 5 weeks behind schedule!

Hello Yayuhz,
May I suggest that you assume that you will reach the goal (2018 in 2018) by working to achieve what your daily goal would have been had you started on Jan 1. When you can, go above and beyond. See what happens.

I think you'll get to 2018 miles if you maintain the daily average you have achieved so far!

@SunsetRunner

In tthe discussion about the Group Debacle, you asked about my February step count.  It is around 450k.

The inability to see the group statistics is disappointing.

Thank you for checking with me.

Yippee, it looks like the leader board is back up and running!!

I'm currently in 25th place for the month.  Now I have someone to chase down.  Watch out number 24 I'm right behind you!

I'm #91 so far, and I'm surprised I'm there....my steps have been really low lately so I need to get back on track!

I've seen these groups too and they seem cool - I like the way some folks have labeled it as a "You VS the Year" challenge (e.g. http://youvstheyear.com/).

I'm confused if it includes general walking it seems doable at ~10k steps/day. If it's pure running or exercise walking, seems much more challenging - 1.5 marathons a week is more than most of us mere mortals can manage.

So how is everyone doing so far?  Just checked and it looks like I'm a bit over half way there at 1,161.53 miles through the end of April ...

Wow! I am impressed! I’ve logged about 660 miles (and realize that I’m slightly behind. I expect summer in Wisconsin to push me ahead of the curve. My body is “not willing” to run anymore, so we’ll walk the Wisconsin countryside and listen to Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Travis Tritt.
