Hello all! The New Year is upon us very soon! The annual goal to run/walk/move 2,020 miles for the year 2020 is right around the corner.
As luck would have it, 2020 is a Leap Year, which means we have an extra day to complete our goal which is ever so slightly easier than last year's goal. Your daily goal is slightly lower, but the weekly and monthly goal slightly increases.
2,020 miles =
5.51 miles per day
38.84 miles per week
168.33 miles per month
Since Fitbit decommissioned the old web-based groups, I created a group in the Fitbit app instead. I will be renaming the current 2019 group to reflect the New Year of 2020 later next week to minimize the amount of invites I have to send out to everyone. So if you're already a part of the 2019 group in the Fitbit, you don't need to do anything!
If you would like to join the 2020 group in the Fitbit app and you're not already apart of the 2019 group, please let me know here and I'll send you a friend request. Once you accept, I can add you to the group.

@rudyten
What you are saying doesn't make sense. You say that you get 10,000 steps by 10 AM yet your Profile states that you average less than 6,000 steps a day.
I do not have such a problem with mine. I wear mine on the ankle, however. But I did not have a problem when I had it on the wrist.

I suspect that either your Fitbit is broken or you are engaging a little too vigorously in some of the activities you mention and should perhaps go for a brisk walk instead 🤷🏻:female_sign:😄

On the same track as last year - I would really like to bump it up a bit, I want over the 5000 mile mark this year 🙂 How's everyone doing so far?

Despite a rocky start due to the flu, I am still on track. Trying to keep a surplus of steps and miles going as often as I can. I really want to hit 5 million steps for 2020. I was only 104,000 steps short last year of hitting 5 million -- so close! Weekends are my biggest downfall as I tend to get lazy and do only 10K-12K, so I need to keep motivated on weekends.
Great job, Sal! You're killing it!

I don't know how to post the graphs, but I have a spread sheet. I'm right on track with 103.38 miles in so far and 65.02 left to got. Assuming that we need 168.4 miles per month to reach the goal.
It's not really all that hard to do (I am used to walking our dog about 5 miles per day), but the consistency is getting to me. Work is definitely getting in the way!!

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I think there is a sensitivity setting somewhere that you can set. I discovered 3 years ago that when I played the piano I would get steps, so I take my fitbit off when I play the piano. Otherwise it's spot on.
I compare it to my Strava app and also my Health app both on the phone and they are all very comparable with Strava getting a little higher and the Health app a little lower. I always go with what's on the fitbit, but I like the checks and balances.

@Heather-S How do you get that cool spreadsheet. I have one I manually update in google docs, but yours looks fantastic!

Heather, that just means we need to add a Weekend Warrior challenge into the mix lol

@3WRYRY Thanks! It's actually a small part of a much larger spreadsheet that I use to track every single day of the month. I can send you my main spreadsheet and you can copy it and adapt it to your needs if you want. Just send me a private message with your email address.
I can also just send you a template of that one sheet you're seeing in my screenshot if you'd prefer that. 🙂

@Heather-S Thank you for the offer!! I've been playing around on google docs and think I have something that will work for me (although not as detailed or pretty as yours!).

@Heather-S Looks like someone works a LOT with Excel (given the name I am not surprised). Do you use the downloads from Fitbit and then user Excel Power Query or enter it in per day? I suck it all in and then use Pivot Charts to try and visualize all the data so that I can see activity vs. calories vs miles, etc. It is a lot of fun playing with this data. My "own" fitbit DashBoard

@Jeffcozzag I love pivot tables! But I built a spreadsheet that houses every day of the month for the entire time I’ve had my Fitbit. I didn’t bother exporting the data, I just spent an afternoon building it out and now I update it daily/weekly.
I’d be happy to share the spreadsheet with anyone who might want to copy it and use it on their own. ☺️
