Congratulations! You are starting on a virtual hike of the lower 48 states. This is a difficult challenge, and with any difficult challenge, it helps to break it into small pieces. The hike is divided into 14 parts. Each part has 10 segments except for the last one which has 8 segments. Each segment has 8 legs. With few exceptions, the legs are 10 miles or less.

I reduced my activity yesterday because my resting heart rate was getting a little high. It did reduce my resting heart rate, but I burned more calories than expected with little work. In order to get all my chores done, I'm going to need to gradually increase my calorie goal to maybe 4,000 calories a day while slowing my metabolism. These may be mutually exclusive goals.
I'm at the beginning of discovering a possible mechanism for slowing or stopping the growth of cancer using diet and exercise. It's nothing new as a whole food plant based diet slows or even cures cancer. The new part will be adding a good bit of exercise. The mechanism has to do with reducing the excretion of the growth hormone from the pituitary gland. There is a drug that does this, but it comes with some nasty long-term side effects.

Eventually, I'll need to increase my calories burned to about 5,000 a day in order to get all my work done. It seems impossible now. Maybe I'll try 100 calories a month until I get there. Until then, I'll practice moving from one task to the next with only a short break.

It seems like I'm naturally starting to increase my distance today. At least the "Fitbit distance", which is based on steps and not actual distance. It's a bit depressing because it means the end of the trail will come one day. Therefore, I decided it has no finish line. When I get back to the start, I'll head off in some random direction. For now, I'm considering a tour of Mexico.

I'm starting to form an attachment to hiking the route again. It came sooner this time as I recognize old landmarks.
My weight dropped 4 pounds to 155.8 lbs. My percent body fat dropped to 15.1%. I'll need to focus on eating more during the day. Later, I'll make a pot of potatoes to supplement the pot of rice. I love potatoes, but don't make them every day because they take more effort. I could use a support crew to do all the cooking for me.
I'm gradually accepting the idea of working slowly in order to burn fewer calories/minute and working a little longer to attain my calorie goals for the day.
