Distance not correct?

Hello, I got my fitbit last week and i was wondering why there have been days where I get to 10000 steps and one day I got to 11146 but even with 11146 my distance goal was not met saying I only got to 7.25km and when I do 10000 it says I only walked for 6.5 km. The goal distance is set to 8.05km, I am 165 cm tall and my stride lenght is set automatically to 68 cm. Is the distance accurate?

Nothing is 100% accurate in Fitbit. If your aim is to make sure you’re active enough, I would forget about distance and focus more on things like calories burned (even if this, too, is an estimate) and active minutes.

Unless you are using GPS (if supported by your Fitbit), distance is just step count x stride length. All steps are not created equal, for instance steps taken during a brisk walk outside vs. steps taken when you move from the couch to the fridge at home. Just view your daily step count as a rough proxy of your overall activity, rather than obsessing about its accuracy.

I found the same issue and decided to walk a measured distance.

I chose my local athletic track, made sure my arms were moving correctly to test the number of steps vs Fitbit.  I then walked the one lap and calculated the steps into distance.  I did a lap of normal walking and another of brisk walking to compare the difference.

I chose walk because 60% of my daily steps are domestic.

I then adjusted my stride.
