I actually started using this app a little over a month ago and have been very pleased with it. I believe I purchased the premium since I paid $35 for the year. I've been very impressed with what a great workout I get doing the daily 6-8 minutes workout and can feel that I did it the next day. This is the only fitness app I have found that actually works with your level of fitness to drop back or move forward. I also can not do lunges due to an unstable knee. It adapted my program for that.

Fitstar sounds great from reading their website, had never heard of it until Fitbit's press release today. However, without an Android download it has no functionality for me (and a big chunk of the market that is out there).

Has anyone tried this app and would you recommend the premium service?
I think it's good news that Fitbit made this acquisition. So I have no doubt that they will put these newly-acquired gems to good use and spruce up Premium. Because as it now stands frankly, it doesn't offer a hell of a lot. I've been using it for 18 months and if this is any indication of how I feel about it, I just renewed for another year. I like the trainer functionality - which has no resemblance whatsoever to what Fitstar offers; but nevertheless provides a tool to improve your level of activity via 12-week programs that provide for a small incremental burn week-to-week. Other than that, the food reports are fine, but the export function needs to be enhanced to something more than just a data dump. For the export to be of any use, the GUI should give the user the ability to cherry pick the data elements to be exported. As for Fitstar per se, I haven't used it and I am not planning on using it either. I am quite happy with Hasfit videos, available for free on You Tube or on their web site, all for FREE. They have great workouts, for every age and fitness level. I just started with their videos about two weeks ago and so far, I am impressed. That's not to say that Fitstar is no equally good or better - I have no doubt that it is, otherwise Fitbit would have looked elsewhere to add value to the Premium membership (assuming that this is their intent.) But until I see what they do with this acquisition, I'll stick with Hasfit for now. Cheers!
