I would start by reading the manual. It will help you to understand your HR

I use the Start/Stop anytime I am in a step based activity

Microdot,
I use the following apps which you can sync with each other;
> MyFitnessPal ... you can log your caloric / food intake info here
> MapMyWalk ... great for also creating your own library of mapped routes
> MapMyRide ... for logging your exercise riding a bike
Once synced, they worked flawless together. Enjoy checking these apps out.

Same here! I use MapMyRun and MyFitnessPal. So far I have not had any issues with them syncing with each other.

When you guys use MapMyRun or MapMyWalk, how is it different compared with using the built-in "Track Exercise" in the Fitbit app itself? I read that it's actually MobileRun app integrated into Fitbit app.

fyerocious,
I like using the MapMyRun / MapMyWalk as you can create your own route map... this is especially
usefule if you travel and you want to map out your route near the destination hotel, for example.
Also, during your walk or run, the app will provide you with voice indication as to your overall time,
split pace, etc... very useful when you want to keep improving your time. Try the free app out first...
I'm sure that you will that this app gives you so much more features.

I use the C:HR as a calories burnt tracker and MyFitnessPal as a calories eaten tracker, not seen the need for any others.
Not a lot to it really, wear the wrist band, activiate "excercise mode" whenever you want a bit of detail on a workout, log all your food, by weight, on MFP.

I am a new Fitbit user and used both Map My Walk and My Fitness Pal prior to using the Fitbit. I've successfully linked all three. I like being able to join the challenges and hear voice feedback on MMW so I continue to use that. In the past, I've always been happy using MFP for logging my foods, but I've found the food log, on the Fitbit dashboard, easy to use and it eliminates using one more App. Are there any features on MFP that you don't find on the dashboard?

I was using a couple of apps, MFP and Nike+ but have decided just to use Fitbit for now. I don't know, maybe I'm a bit fussy who I share my health data with. Fitbit on it's own seems to be working really well.

I'm in bad shape. I didn't even know there was a manual!

Just to add to this, I hope some awesome research is being done by Fitbit.
Fitbit have the ability to look at what a massive number people are eating down to the macro and micro nutrient level, as well as how much exercise they get including in some cases all day heart rate monitoring and sleep monitoring. This is really huge. All that data is the real product, and it must be worth a fortune. I hope Fitbit put it to good use, insurance companies would love it I guess, but also scientists working on huge problems like metabolic diseases.
This is another reason I put all my eggs in one basket, I want Fitbit to have all this data, it may help with the serious obesity and health issues we have in the world.
Obviously the data is really helpful for me too 😛

Theres a lot of data but most of it is pretty low quality.
If I have a bad day, I just dont enter it.
If I have a good day, I never miss an entry.
I know I over ate by a huge margin yesterday, no reason to spend hours working out how many thousands of calories my cookie and ice cream desert was.,

Hi
Anyone got any tips for getting the most out of charge HR? What apps do you link to? How can you best use the HR monitor when running to help with weight loss and fitness?
Thanks
You can link your Fitbit to Walgreen's app and earn up to 1000 points per month. 1000 points= $1.00

After recieving my Charge HR at Christmas I immediately purchased the FitBit Aria bathroom scale and body fat monitor. I feel that it is the most important investment (other than the Charge HR itself) that I've made and it has made all the difference in the world. Having the ability to step on the scale and have it sync to my FItBit account was the effortless tracking that I have always hoped for.
I also have it linked to Runkeeper and MyFitnessPal.

I can only comment on how it is with Runkeeper, which uses GPS to actually track your route on a map as you walk/run. As long as you've accurately measured your stride (walking and running) the distance shown on the FItBit in "exercise mode" will match remarkably with the GPS measurements from runkeeper. To do this you have to count your steps while walking or running over a known distance. Convert to steps per foot and enter it into your settings.

Have you entered your walking stride into your settings? This should close up the gap between the MMW and FB apps. I'm not sure about which distance it chooses to count when you do an exercise, but I always look to my Runkeeper for the more accurage gauge of the distance I've walked or run that day and the FB for the number of steps.
