How do you get those extra steps in?

I live about four miles from my workplace and although I haven't yet walked all four miles to or from work, there are a few games I play during the week to increase my stepcount.

Some days I'll take the hillier, windier, unnecessarily long route to BART (San Francisco's heavy-rail rapid transit system). Almost always, I forgo the escalator for the stairs. Today, that act alone added 5 flights of stairs and over 250 steps to my morning journey.

My other favorite "cheat" is high stepping in place. Sure, I may look a little odd bouncing up and down while typing at my makeshift standing desk, but it feels good to keep the blood flowing and the legs moving!

What do you do to get your extra steps in?

As of Feb 24, I have reached a virtual Statesville, NC, on my virtual walk along US 64 from the NC-TN border east to Nag's Head at the Atlantic Ocean. That's about 202 miles in the first month with the Fitbit! Love it!

Two Thumbs Up PapaG. I love it that you and Ali are all about your travels with Fitbit. I think the concept is very cool and interesting. Be safe as you travel and remember to take extra shoes along with you, with the territory that you are covering you're going to need them. 😄. Keep Stepping Papa.

Hello Guys, I am so excited, I exceeded my steps by over 10K today, and my miles by 4 miles, I climbed 11 flights of stairs. I am so trying to be like my mentors, to name a few, Jabrat, Ali, and Big Ben. Go Zee!

Thanks Alex, I will. While talking to Jabrat, Ali and Big Ben, they encouraged me and said I could do it and I did, it really didn't take as much extra effort as I thought, I am motivated to reach and obtain a 6 digit number of steps taken in a 7 day period.

How do you get those extra steps in? By patterning your activities after some of the awesome people in this discussion. Take Jabrat for instance, she's encouraging and takes a lot of steps each day. She's always available and has some helpful hints and suggestions. She ran a 5K this morning and finished where you might ask, Well I have the answer. FIRST PLACE, congratulations Jabrat, I am now getting off my butt and stepping. Keep stepping Fitbitters every step counts. And again to Jabrat I say congratulations, awesome job and keep stepping!!!!!!

Just completed 10K steps and it's only 3pm, as Ali would say it's all gravy now. Speaking of the Awesome Ali, she's climbed 175 flights so far today. I am going to back a coffee truck up to her door, she deserves big rewards. I am so pleased with the progress those in our community are making, it's so motivating and encouraging. Keep Stepping! I am in love with the Fitbit.

How do I get my steps? Taking the long way to the bathroom at work, laps around the quad and today was even taking one of my cats out for a lovely 1500 step walk. We both enjoyed it!
