Ideas needed!

idea.jpgHey there!

Recently I started to be more active and I would love to have my mom being more active as well, last night I convinced her to go for a walk with me for 20 minutes! although it was not much for me, for her was a lot but as we walked she was telling me that she doesn't feel motivated to move more.  I tried explaining her that it will help her to be healthier but she already knows that, so I'm needing more ideas to convince her into walking/exercising more.

What can I say to motivate her, besides improving her health?

Do you have any other ideas?

All comments are highly appreciated! 😄

I find it motivating to give a purpose to a walk, rather than walk for the sake of walking. Also, find a way of building in extra steps for everyday activities.
- Want a small ice cream cone? ... walk there and back.
- Need to go to the mall? ... park at the opposite end.
- Too dreary to walk outside? ... go to the mall or a big box store then walk for a bit before having a salad for lunch.
- Need to go shopping? ... walk the parimeter of the store, then head back to the front to start your shopping.

Things like this can increase your level of exercise (and your Mom's) without actually adding "exercise."

On the YouTube topic... Check out this video by Prancercise! There's no reason it can't be goofy and memory-making, while still being good for your joints.

Thanks everyone!

You have great ideas, I had the chance to be off last week and spent a lot of time with my mom, I initially told her to have a goal of 5,000 steps, and now she raised it 1,000 more, now she is always asking me how many steps I've walked so far and I try to tell  her that she has more than me hahaha.

@SunsetRunner your suggestions are great! I definitely will start parking at the opposite end when going to the mall and also will use @SunsetRunner advice of walking to the supermarket 😉

I didn't think about youtube before, but I'll make sure I do so @WendyB and for sure will watch the one @MRose suggested once I get home.  🙂

Once again thank you! I really appreciate all of your ideas 😄
