April brought a lot of showers in the northeast of the US and May will bring more. But it will also bring lots of flowers and other spring wildlife. So get outside and MAYbe up your step goals for a month!
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures
The theme of the photo scavenger hunt this month is to find at least three different kinds of flowers (blooms), three different animals on your daily walks. The more colors and critters the better.
Posting
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Had to go out late to get my steps today, but I did get them in!
Welcome back to the gym @Heather-S. Mine was closed from March to July in 2020 and has been open with restrictions since then. I usually go on Mondays and Fridays to use the squat rack and the sled leg machine and the come home to do the rest of my routine. We still have masks on in the gym in Maryland, but the number of people inside at a time has been steadily rising and that makes a little anxious -- even though I'm now fully vaccinated. So I just limit my exposure and use it for the exercises I can't do at home or outside.
I like the gym

Managed 20K yesterday! Didn't go to the gym as planned, but instead finished mowing the lawn and thankfully the mower works like a dream now.
This afternoon is my second Covid vaccine. Really hoping it doesn't make me sick and derail my progress for the month so far. I'm hoping for 16K today, but it'll be tough. I'll be doing more driving than usual to get to the vaccine site.

Thanks @Jotex. I got my second shot on Friday afternoon and ended up with fever all Friday night and Saturday. The worst part was the headache with fever. I basically slept and tried to stay awake to watch movies. Needless to say, it took me out and I only moved 600 steps yesterday. My daily average increased quite a bit, but it's still do-able. I probably won't do more than 10K because I'm still tired and weak from the fever.

Aw, sorry to hear you had such a strong reaction, but at least it has passed (or will). I had it worse with my 1st vaccine (Moderna) much like your 2nd, but still felt very tired with the second. Hang in there! It will be worth the discomfort, I believe!!!
