That's a great question. I pulled the trigger on a pair of Addidas shoes yesterday. Haven't worn them yet, though.

So many factors: your arch, supination vs. pronation, and who knows what else.

Good luck! I'm curious too.

@mmsilvia: There are three different kind of running shoes. Neutral, Stability and Motion control. Your pronation defines which category you fall under. Do you know what kind of shoe you use? Pronation is the way the foot rolls inward when you walk or run. This movement helps your lower part of your leg.

My personal preference is Asics GT- 2000. But it may not work for you. Your feet should be happy when you wear them. Good luck.

The best advice I can offer is for you to go to a specialty shop where you can be helped by someone who knows shoes. I don't mean the chain stores where teenagers work, I mean a small specialty store that will work with you to understand how you step, roll, etc.

I have found that for me, the Nike Free 5.0 are the best- but they are now discontinued. I am so sad. As soon as my pair wear down, I will be heading to figure out my next shoe.
